OK, so what makes them click?

Hi,

So check this out … I have/had old Gen 1 camera and it went poof to the great beyond today ?!

If I plug it in with the original power supply and cable I get a light on in the back and its yellow but as you can see and HEAR it’s making a clicking sound !! The light goes off every other click too !

No reset ability and of course its dead in my app! Any suggestions other than a burial with honors?

Part of the bootup process includes cycling the IR filter. That is the click you are hearing. Notice that the status LED flashed off every other click. My guess would be that the bootup is failing at that same time.
Give a shot to manually re-flash the firmware. Maybe it just got corrupted…

Welp, no joy …

I formatted the SD card and tossed on a copy of 3.9.4.35 in to the root of the SD card …

Then I installed it " FIRMWARE_660R_F_3.9.4.35.BIN" in to the card slot on the camera.

Powered it up while holding down the reset button and counted to 15 and let it go …

Then waited for 3-4 minutes the clicking did stop for a bit and the led did flash a few times
but nothing … for a while.

Now. it’s back to the clicking and the led flashing every other click again … think I should
try an older version for fun?

Looks like your BIN file is incorrectly named for a v1 flash.

  1. Download the specific version of firmware from the Release Notes, For Windows 10 right-click in the folder and select extract all. For Mac: just drag and drop folder, and put it on the root directory of your microSD card and rename it to FIRMWARE_660R_F.BIN.

Also make sure that if Windows is showing file name extensions. Else you may end up with an extra .bin at the end which will not work.

Also, use a 32GB or smaller card formatted to FAT32 standard. You can use a larger card, but you’ll need to reformat to one 32GB FAT32 partition.

Yea I tried the 3.9.4.16 that from Apr of 2019 and it had the right name. Still no joy.

It was also reformatted with FAT32 and yep, I HATE windows being helpful and hiding
file extensions … always have !

Thanks for the suggestions …

That’s easy to change. If you don’t know how, please ask.
