I have two V1 cams that needed to be updated. I successfully updated one, but the other still doesn’t work and has a solid yellow LED. Any ideas what the problem might be?
If I recall, there was the potential for V1s to encounter limitations around internal storage when trying to update that to the last firmware which prevents a smooth upgrade resulting in your displayed symptoms. The only solution in that case would be to manually rollback using a microSD card, which can be frustrating if you’re not technical (as seen in the thread above). It can be saved but will require your patience and effort/re-effort.
This whole situation was about as sloppy as it could get from a consumer electronics company. Plenty of lessons learned by the customers in this thread. I’m glad this is a living memorial to it.
Good luck!
Cam Plus Lite represents the old wyze, one which cared about its customers (or at least faked it well) and kept it’s word (somewhat). The new wyze is about money only. Wyze will never admit it (they are good at that) but the more problems with CPL the better. They want it gone, and can’t wait to eol the remaining cameras that get it.
Also all the problems that were going to be fixed by the new app they were building (for years) - forget about it. Reading the employee posts it appears the great software developer that wyze claims to be has for now given up on that (too hard for them I guess).
Keeping this thread active so anyone who comes to this forum will know what to expect from wyze.
I like it! I’ll reply to let you know that once you reply 3 times in a row, you won’t be able to reply again until someone else does so. Thus, this reply here just gave you the ability to reply three more times without anyone else replying.
Proceduralism! The v1 is sapping resources better used to prevent my v2s from suffering the same fate!
Let v1 die so v2 may live!
Long live the v2.
What if Wyze really wants V3 and after to save resources?
It is then V1 Outdoor, V3 in 2023.
V1 sensors are tossed already in same manner.
I figure I get sloughed off at some point because I am not an upgrader by nature. And I am satisfied with ‘imperfect.’ I keep things too long. I am thrifty. I belong to a deep layer of ‘the masses’ Wyze once said they wanted to bring things to that they really can’t afford to in the long run. They need people with dough. Who can afford to buy things on impulse. To ‘perfect’ their environment. Over and over.
They just announced in their latest newsletter that they’ve gone global, sales-Wyze. They are not targeting folks in huts and hovels, I assure you.
Damn, we’re appealing more to affluent people than we thought we would. Must adjust!
Been away - reading posts and blogs it seems that people are realizing what Wyze has become. Is calling the company grifters so far off. Stop screwing your users and live up to the promises you made when you actually cared about something other than subscriptions and getting every penny you can from your users.
Maybe fix some bugs instead of having a fix it Friday that still doesn’t fix anything
I think the most disappointing thing about this whole situation is that Wyze thinks that the best way to react and treat it’s customers is to just ignore it and never say a word.
I want those who jump in to say all my Wyze products work perfectly or it must be your wifi to tell me how the silence shows that this is the kind of company you want to trust.
Wyze has managed to ignore this and many other problems with no repercussions so I guess they have learned it doesn’t matter what you promise and how you treat your customers there are always more people tempted by their bs.
Bugs me that this is still going on, we all know that wyze pulled the plug on notifications. It’s not a bug or server error as they claim, instead they block notification on the server end. I can delete and re-add a camera and get only 1 notification then it’s dead again, clear example that it’s not the camera itself.
Similar experience I get 1 notification (sometimes no video or picture attached) then have to power cycle. And I do believe it is intentional.
I want my V1 to work again. PEEZ!
I use CrystalDiskInfo to see when my SSDs are reaching end of life.
Is there an app to check when V2 cams will die?

How do we find their email addresses?
So, did the V1 issues ever get fixed?
I don’t have a V1 so don’t have a dog in this hunt but just curious. I started off reading every message in this thread but then discovered there are apparently over 500 messages in this thread so I gave up on trying to read them all. I have been searching for @WyzeJasonJ posts and reading them, and the last one I saw was from January 17 (for a problem that first appeared in May of 2022 I think).
@WyzeJasonJ I want to say I am highly impressed with your diligence in keeping this issue alive and following through with it. Thank you for all your efforts.
The issue with the V1’s will NEVER get fixed, It has nothing to do with some make-believe error or bug, It’s about money!! plain and simple. The V1’s will work in a heartbeat but you have to PAY. No pay no play. As for that JasonJ guy, he only manages forums and clearly has nothing to do with the internal workings of the server or cameras themselves. If Wyze has any bit of decency they would at least roll out a new app called camplus lite with ads that would restore the operations of the V1’s. Although the second they do that, it would be a clear admission of guilt that they lied to their customers, so I guess we can scrap that idea, They will just do what they do best, ignore the problem and hope it goes away.
I can sympathize with your viewpoint, @calaco_1999, but I prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Before I retired, I engineered software for small microcomputer-controlled devices. mostly medical devices, with seriously limited space for the operating software. So when @WyzeJasonJ reports that they are having difficulty making it all fit in the V1’s available memory space, I know exactly what he’s talking about. Been there, done that, got the scars. Sometimes it can mean almost a total ground-up redesign of the software to free up enough space to make it fit.
I’m guessing that the problem is they just couldn’t free up enough space to make it all fit, and they just can’t justify the effort and expense for an obsolete and non-supported device. Although, I would have expected that @WyzeJasonJ would come here and tell us that. So I don’t know but prefer to give the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
The current problem with the v1 is not with the camera firmware but on the wyze server side. And @WyzeJasonJ will never come here and admit what we all know, that Wyze won’t put any effort into fixing something time has shown they can simply ignore and screw over users without any real repercussion.
