What is it going to take to fix the notification system for these stupid cameras? Why should I have to manually turn notifications on or off?

I have three cameras in my apartment (v4), and I don’t want notifications every time I move my foot, breathe, pick up a remote, or walk around the apartment. I’ve tried setting automations to turn to turn notifications off when I’m home (geofence) but it doesn’t work. I have a random schedule where I’m in and out of the apartment, so scheduling system doesn’t work very well.

When are notifications going to get fixed, or how do I set these stupid things up so they notify properly? It doesn’t seem like it should be that difficult either way.

It isn’t clear what you’re asking. If you’re in the apartment and move, it is going to notify you if notifications are on, that’s what it is supposed to do. Geofencing works but you have to allow the app to run in the background and use unlimited battery, which will drain your battery pretty fast. There is a bell icon right on the home screen of the app that you can use to manually turn them on or off, that may be your best bet. Might even be able to put a shortcut on your home screen, haven’t tried.

But why do you have internet connected cameras looking in on your living space? The only two indoor ones I have are right inside my two exterior doors, enough to catch someone coming in but can’t see or hear anything I do around the house (other than occasional coming and going which I don’t care about).

Firstly, I agree this should work better directly through Wyze.

Common things that can help are to make sure the app is exempt from battery optimization (this can be different for each manufacturer), and also toggle on the persistent “Running in the background” setting in the Wyze app at Account tab → App Settings → Running in the background.

A workaround I actually use that is extremely accurate for me is to run Home Assistant, then add in the HACS Wyze Integration. That gives me toggles for notifications for each camera. I set up the app to track my location (and my wife and kids) and make decisions based on who is home or not. But it can be complicated to setup a reverse proxy or other remote connection options for it. For most people that want to do such advanced automations for free, I’d mostly tell them to do the automation based on whether their phone is connected to their home wifi or not. But this is a more advanced option. I agree it should be simple to do just through Wyze. Try the previous suggestions of turning on running in the background and checking battery optimization exclusions first.
