Notification while traveling abroad

I am in Asia for a month and my camera sent notification while I was asleep at 3 AM local time. I guess iPhone alerted me because it was 11 AM at my house, but I had my iPhone set up so no notification would come through while I’m sleeping. What gives?

Interesting. How does the camera know that you’re sleeping? Or that you’re in a different time zone?

Does the phone tell the Wyze app you’re in a different time zone and adjusts the schedules? That’s giving Wyze too much credit.

It is up to your phone OS to not send alerts when you don’t want it to. That would be a combination of using “do not disturb” and having the phone in the local time zone. Unless you have some app installed that is supposed to silence alerts when it thinks you’re sleeping, but those usually don’t work well unless connected to something like a fitbit.

The Wyze app just sends the notification, it doesn’t care what the phone then does with it, and it does not know about your phones DND settings.

You can set an automation in the wyze app to disable notifications during certain times, I have one set up for that. That will stop the notification from being sent to your OS completely so it won’t rely on phone settings. Just make sure you set it up based on your home time zone since that’s what the cams and app know about.
