Is anyone else having issues with their Wyze cameras after reporting multiple issues and constant issues and never seeing any firmware updates to correct issues?
I’ve been using Wyze products since around 2017/2018 and have spent THOUSANDS over the years to add and upgrade cameras, multiple different lights, thermostat, room sensors, alarm system/addons, vacuum, indoor/outdoor outlet timers, battery cams, door locks, leaks sensors, temp sensors and more.
I currently have 3 Gig Fiber Optic internet connection and use the TP-Link Archer GE800 centered in the house as my main router and 2 Archer BE230 routers hardwired as mesh access points at the farthest corners inside the house. The restricted 2.4g devices are on a dedicated IOT band and the 5g devices are on the main 5g band.
For over a year I’ve been submitting logs for issues and have yet to see a firmware update to address those issues.
Just to cover a few:
There’s been constant problems with cameras still detecting and notifying about motion in areas deselected in the detection zone
Cam pan v4 (on 5G WiFi with -48db connection) constantly losing calibration and having to manually recalibrate several times a day, set waypoints not working when tapping the waypoint. Not returning to the “Home” waypoint and pointing in random directions. Constant freezing of live feed when opening feed or giving the cameras commands and struggling to reconnect even after using “reset services”. Worst cameras I’ve owned practically unusable!!also states it’s a 4k camera but only displays when activated in the live view and not for recordings. Major selling point was the upgraded resolution for motion detected recordings but it won’t record in 4k.
Wyze thermostat reporting excessive usage times of 18hrs when it was really around 3hrs.
Room sensors randomly dropping from the “included” list.
Cameras detecting motion, showing a 5min recording but when said 5min recording it’s under 30sec. The sd card shows a 5min block but directly after that there’s a loss of video before recording again. ( it’s caused issues where that’s the exact moment the review was needed but it didn’t record).
Cameras randomly showing as “turned off” when viewing a group but when viewing said “turned off” camera the live feed displays fine.
Still no ability to rotate feed by 90° after years of requesting.
Audio from cameras sounding scratchy with constant noise making it almost impossible to hear the needed audio.
No ability to reset live services on Wyze video doorbell pro.
Some cameras showing the WiFi signal strength allow you to tape and see the actual signal numbers (-48db) and other only showing the three bars which doesn’t help much.
Some cameras showing a button to “change WiFi” but saying the firmware needs an update to use that feature yet there’s no available firmware updates.
App constantly shows a red notification dot on account icon but when selecting nothing shows the red dot only to find it it’s the video cloud storage saying a new clip was recorded and no way of turning that off or tapping on one of the cameras to see what was recorded and getting a pop up to upgrade to cam unlimited pro (I have cam unlimited)
Lack of firmware updates for what’s now viewed as “legacy” devices and newer devices but constant push for subpar new devices.
Forced use of one web browser to see live streams of newer cameras where before you could see your feeds from any browser. Now I either have to change browsers (won’t due) to view the cam pan v4 or not have the ability to view it online. I’m not switching browsers to be able to see one or two cameras.
I’m sure I’m still missing things from that list unfortunately.
