New OG Cam Takes Down Entire Wifi Network

I have a brand new OG and whenever I try to set it up it takes down the entire WiFi network. Router is Eero R010001. When I get to the point in setup where I enter the password after choosing the correct network, it crashes all wifi and the router starts blinking. The network will not work again until I unplug the camera. When I disable Wifi 6 on the router, the camera connects and sets up just fine. when I enable Wifi 6 it crashes again.

I can setup the camera on a phone hotspot without issues.

All Firmware on the Router, and OG are up to date.

I have dozens of Wyze devices on my network all running without any issues, including 2 other OGs.

Any thoughts on how I can get this camera setup?

That’s very odd. If your other OGs don’t do it, I’d suspect something related to the wifi chipset in that new one. You could try doing a factory reset before setting it up, but I can’t see why that would matter. Unfortunately there is no official way to manually upgrade the firmware in the OG (support can actually send a file to do it though), not sure if that might help or not.

What about setting it up using another wifi or your phone’s hotspot, letting it update firmware, and trying again? Or just exchange it, sounds like something is pretty severely wrong with the wifi in it, it is basically performing some sort of “attack” without intending to.

It may just be some weird combination of the Eero and the OG, can’t rule out that it is actually something that has been introduced in the Eero with firmware that happened after you set up your old OGs. Obviously make sure that has the latest firmware.

Other than exchanging it and/or making sure the eero has the latest firmware, best suggestion I can think is trying to get it set up using hotspot (name the hotspot the same SSID and use the same password as your home wifi), let it update firmware, then shut down the hotspot and see if it connects to the eero ok.
