This is a ‘New’ Problem that I just noticed lately. I’ve got a couple V4 Cameras and when I look at the Albums for Photo and Video. The ‘Share’ button is no longer there. All of my older Wyze Cameras are working fine. It just seems to affect the V4. – I have downloaded the App, Re-started the phone etc, etc,
Problem remains… Anyone else have this problem? – Here is what my album Screen Shot looks like now when selecting a single photo ….. No Share Button just a delete and something else, which I’ve never used.
I’m not seeing the problem when I check a Cam v4 just now. I have “Share” buttons (similar to ) for both photos and videos in the Album.
You updated your post with an image while I was writing a response, and the image appears to show the “Share” button, which I think is what you’re describing with this:
Yes, I had tried that, and it does bring me to my apps on my phone like the share button used to. If I select gmail now it will only share the name of the file, but not the image. So, if that is the ‘Share’ button, the button image itself has changed and it is not working. Are you able to share the actual image to an e-mail? Have you tried this? – It was working at least a week ago.
The share Icon has always looked the following screen shot of one of my older cameras (which does work) and the new cameras used to look like this until recently, So, something has changed (not for the better)
I just tried at your suggestion, and it failed. Initially, Gmail showed that the JPEG filename had been inserted into the message body and the image had been added as an attachment, but then I got a failure notification a few moments after addressing the message, adding a subject line, and sending. The message didn’t send, and when I tried to re-open the draft I saw another message from Gmail about an upload failure for the image attachment.
This was with the current Android app (version 3.7.6.699) and Cam v4 (firmware version 4.52.9.3415).
Sharing in that way isn’t something I usually do because of the way the app started adding the “Captured by…” message sometime last year, and that often seems to cause problems with both attachments (I’ve experienced this when trying to share to SMS/MMS/RCS) and video playback. Because of that, I generally download whatever I want to share and then initiate the share action from the Files by Google app. I understand that this isn’t as convenient as sharing directly from the Wyze app, though, and I do think that they’ve broken some things with sharing.
If you haven’t already done so, I’d consider recreating the issue and then submitting a log, then opening a Support ticket where you describe the problem and include a reference to the Log ID that you generate. I’d also consider posting about this issue to whichever topic in Wyze News corresponds to whatever specific app version you’re using where you’re seeing this problem.
That might be true for some areas of the app, but even in a v2.50x app version that I just checked the “Share” button has the appearance (rather than the appearance) when trying to share videos from the Events tab, so they’ve been inconsistent with their use of icons for a while now. Based on other Forum discussion and a recent Reddit AMA comment from Wyze, I think they’ve been doing some work to improve app UI consistency, so I guess that’s why you’re seeing that particular change.
Well it seems to vary based on the model of Cameras rather the version of software. All of my Cameras run the same version (I believe)….. So, if Wyze is changing things, they know what’s going on. And they are creating Bugs. I used to work as a software engineer, so I understand these things. If they care they will fix it. Meanwhile, this has already chewed up a good part of my afternoon nap.
Yes the share function is not working properly. The other day I tried to share a short video from one of my V3s and the attached video showed a static image when played.
Wyze’s consistency of breaking things that used to work is getting tiresome to say the least.
