Have been using a Wyze cam v2 for years with my Synology nas’s surveillance station. I was wondering if any of the new Window cams can be used the same way. At the time I downloaded a firmware patch from here to accomplish the task. Is it possible with the new ones. TIA
The customized firmware is no longer possible.
The ways people do this now unfortunately I don’t think will work with the window cam, so you may want to consider another model (that you can still place inside a window, just not stuck to it unless you find a mount of some sort)
-Wyze Bridge - don’t think it supports window cam but not positive
-Tiny Cam Pro - Not sure if they’ve added this cam yet, check their supported cams list
-RTSP which is now supported natively on the v4, v3, and Panv3. More models should be supported in the future but I don’t think they’ve announced which ones will come next.
A v4 inside a window should give you much the same experience as the window cam, just disable the IR LEDs and the status light. Then you can use RTSP or RTSPS to the synology. Some people just set it on the windowsill, others mount it to the window frame or even stick it to the window with double sided adhesive.
