Never say never again, again

I thought I was old enough to know better. But I guess someone had to be the canary in the coal mine. I was naive and didn’t know where the “don’t let them getcha button” was, So they sneaked up on my Cam v4 and it got bricked. Rolled it back and said “never again“. But being young, only 84 and foolish I figured somebody had to find out whether or not the newest Cam v3 firmware was safe or not. OOPSS!! here we go again. Now after asking here and elsewhere I thought version 4.36.16.6114 would be safe. So I tapped the Green update button and waited. Now I think you know the rest of the story. I get to do the rollback shuffle again, Holding the camera down on the desk while pushing in the Setup button on the camera and plugging it into the power simultaneously, while the light on the front turns purple, that is a mixture of blue and red. After a few minutes you will know if the rollback works and you got your v3 back or you get to try again. Yep, you never get old enough to quit being stupid. I’ll try the rollback trick tomorrow. Right now I’m too Po’ed with myself for falling for that trick twice.

I have five V4 cams and Five V3 cams all on the current firmware V4 cams on .6119 and the V3 cams on .6114 and have no issues at all with any of the cameras. I use the current iOS app and update the cams one at a time, Auto update of firmware has been turned off on all cams for a longtime.

I had mentioned in another thread that if you updated your v3 to the newest firmware you’d have the same problem you had with the v4?

If you want to use 3rd party programs (other than the latest version of Tiny Cam Pro) you can’t use the latest firmware on these cams.

All of my v3 cameras are working fine on firmware 4.36.16.6114 when using App version 3.11. I wonder if the OP has some devices running older Wyze App versions?

I have 1 tablet on Android 9 and Wyze App version 2.50 that can only view Cloud Event videos because of the requirements of 4.36.16.6114.

I knew I would have limited App 2.50 functionality (if any) before I updated to v3 firmware 4.36.16.6114.

From another thread their complaint was their v4s stopped working with 3rd party programs like older Tiny Cam etc. OP mentioned considering trying the upgrade on the v3s and I said it would cause the same issue, but they may have missed that.

I am running the newest app, v 3.11.5 (764) and was running TinyCam Pro 17.2. Am now running not pro TinyCam 17.4 because I can’t figure out how to get TinyCam Monitor Pro 18**, and it still won’t see the updated v3 camera. v4 cams are fine this time in Tinycam, but crash Wyze app in Bluestacks. Yes, Bluestacks and TinyCam are 3rd party. Now please, point me to the Wyze (only possible first party apps) to use and I will be happy to use them. On another part of Wyze.com I can see all my cameras laid out in a grid. Yes, I can bring that up on a browser and use it as my Camera Wall but it is not set up for us to set up the way we want it. But at least it doesn’t seem to be affected by firmware updates that are supposed to improve our experience with Wyze. I’ll keep looking for a solution. Maybe something else is causing my TinyCam problems. But the coincidences of when I get a firmware update, and my cameras stop working sure is suspicious to me.

Your v4s are working in tiny cam because you downgraded the firmware to one that is compatible with the older version of tiny cam (and other 3rd party apps). So not sure why you’d upgrade the v3s? Downgrade them and they’ll work again.

Wyze supported apps are the official andriod/IOS app running on a supported phone or tablet, and web view.
