Even the ability to turn notifications off for shared or even specific cameras would be great start.
After all this time, I question if an actual employee of Wyze ever sees these comments. Even the moderator is just a user, not an employee. Show us an actual response .
The moderator to whom you replied now works for Wyze and also changed the status of this wishlist topic.
As Wyze has never seemed to solve many of the problems a few users have because it is not a problem for all users I suspect this will drag on.
It’s too bad this workaround did not pop up as #1 reference when I searched on the terms “notification” “turn off” “shared cameras”.
We are in the information age. We hear story after story about stolen login and passwords. Wyze being a “security” company violates the #1 rule of security…DON’T SHARE YOUR LOGIN & PASSWORD.
I have a family, I shouldn’t have to share all rights to all family members, including minors. Minors can then changes settings and more…then something bad happens. Additionally, Each person in a household should be able to arm/disarm security with notifications to the family group: “John disarmed system”, “John armed system” etc. How many Wyze families would like to know their child is home safe?
How can this community get Wyze to take this seriously?
You’re preaching to the choir here, and the points you raised are entirely valid. I have no idea where Wyze is with any sort of implementation, but I agree that this should be a priority if Wyze wants to be taken seriously in the security arena. (I’d also say that they’re not alone, and I’m still waiting for SimpliSafe to resolve this same deficit, as are many other users in their support community who have been vocal about this for years. In SimpliSafe’s case, they announced after the first of the year that they would release a multi-user feature in the spring. Since that still hasn’t happened, their failure to deliver something they said that they would feels even worse than Wyze’s situation with this, but I digress.)
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and specific use cases. I hope you also voted above the first post, because I’d really like to see this happen.
I did put my vote in. We need a lot more votes. I am brand new…two days with Wyze. My wife wants me to return it all, especially because they are lacking this very critical service.
Is there a way to get this more community attention?
Is Wyze worth it? Ring and Google have it…left both looking for more features.
Being that this chain started in 2018, I don’t feel confident that Wyze is event trying. Is it possible for a Wyze specialist to update or at least give a warm and fuzzy feeling that it’s coming?
This is more about safety than notifications. Notifications can be turned off. Safety is most important. Having multiple user logins and permissions would enable more safety and security for our families. That is the most vital part of having a security monitoring system.
Thank you for voting! I can’t answer all of your questions, but I think you’re asking things that a lot of people have in the past and continue to do.
I think you’re doing that by commenting here so that the topic remains active and visible when sorted by activity (the default) on the Forum’s home page. ![]()
I think that depends on what your antecedent to “it” is and what kinds of qualities, features, and experience you value. I find that the Wyze products I use meet my needs, though I’ve been disappointed in some things and have openly expressed that here in the Forum, mostly because I want Wyze to be better and embrace their stated foundational values, and I enjoy spending time here because I want others to have positive experiences—and want to help them do so if I can—and because I’ve learned from this community and want to give back in some way.
Whether Wyze is “worth it” is something you (and your wife) will have to decide. Personally, I feel somewhat spoiled by the choices available in the marketplace, so if Wyze doesn’t offer something that meets my needs, then there’s a good chance that someone else does.
My understanding of the Forum operations (and I’m still learning; always learning) is that some members of Wyze Team generally track certain “official” categories, like Wyze News and Beta, but you’ll occasionally see certain team members chiming in elsewhere with updates or requests for more information when specific problems arise, and I really like seeing that engagement. I have a vague recollection of reading somewhere that data from the Wishlist categories is periodically reviewed to see what’s gaining traction and what should be discussed as far as the research steps are concerned on the way to development and implementation, but I’d defer to someone with more knowledge of the process to provide a better answer.
That’s true for the device owner, and I don’t want to speak for @mcartz but I think that’s the point here:
Ideally I’d like to see more granular control over account provisioning and sharing permissions, but something that would allow sharing of more control and features with trusted people without sharing full owner credentials would be better than what we have now.
Also, I feel that I should be clear that I don’t use Wyze Home Monitoring or have any of their Sense equipment. I don’t know if you were referring to that earlier with your mentions of arming/disarming a system.
Security Access Control Settings for Camera Sharing
Hi
Would be great to add security options on camera sharing - such as camera turning off / on. Security settings should have granularity to set access control-
- Full Access ( full settings access)
- Limited Access ( can turn off / on camera)
- View Only Mode (absolutely no changes - view only)
I dont see these options when I share, and had shared access to my family, and one of them seem to have turned off the cameras in error.
Thanks
Cktechie
Something I’d personally like to see on such a list would be giving users control of what notifications to receive. If I want to receive all sound and motion notifications for a camera and also share that camera, the person I share it with might not want to be bothered with the same notifications.
I agree 100%. We need this. My wife is the owner of the bird watching camera and I want to view it, but don’t want the 100 notifications a day from it that she enjoys. Having independent notification settings for each camera seems like something that could easily be added and is possibly overlooked when it comes to sharing and security. If I could choose which cameras I mute notifications for independently on the android side within the application properties, perhaps that would be best versus notification settings within the app.
PLEASE, WYZE TEAM. I like everything else about your products. This is one huge shortfall that ruins the entire experience for us. Google Nest allows users to control their own notifications on shared devices. If competition can do it, then so can you!
It makes zero sense how it can give you the option to share services but when you try to, it says none are available. My husband is NOT paying for an additional plan when i already do. We should be able to share the service within our own household.
What are you trying to accomplish? Your issue kinda sounds like something different than what this wishlist is requesting.
Is there any progress in the ability to share Playback with shared users? This has been going on for more than 5 years that I’ve been needing this. I am going to be moving to a new house at some point and I am seriously thinking about going with a different security camera because of this issue. My husband can’t see activity on our primary residence and I monitor elderly parents and giving him access to the main account means he has to wade through all the other cameras that he doesn’t want / need to see. This has been frustrating beyond belief. This issue should be a priority! Any updates on this? In the world of A! this should not be difficult.
6 years, 1545 votes, 1054 replies to this thread and the app has had many updates in this time frame. I think it’s safe to say they aren’t working on it at all and don’t care what their users really want as long as they keep selling cameras.
Hell they can’t even make the playback functionality consistent between camera models. It makes no sense at all to me that cameras from the same company, using the same app have completely different playback functionality.
If THIS is the solution being built, then you don’t understand the problem. This suggests that device settings will be shared, but this is not solving for granular notifications. If someone shares a device with me, I don’t want to mess with their notification preferences, nor I want them messing with mine.
I want full control of which devices to receive notifications from, owned or shared.
This has long been a user request.
Maybe you can add your vite the the wishlist by searching for it.
Welcome to the forum.
Notification off
Would like to turn notifications on a camera shared with me through the app.I want notifications for my cameras but I don’t need or want my family or friends.Only way to turn them off is on phone and turn off all notifications .

How is this? 6 years later still not answered. It doesn’t make any sense. There should be the availability to add to admin users to the account and have two or more individuals with that access to turn off and or on their notifications accordingly. How is this not on a high list of priorities for the product? I’m pretty new to the community but this was concerning because my buddy and I share a house together and he set up a couple of cameras and I set up a couple of cameras and we don’t have full access that should be granted within the app. Please make this a high priority case as it is part of security and needs to be rectified.
Yep. But hey, now we can identify for $20/mo if the people on our camera are playing baseball.
THE PRIORITIES AT WYZE HAVE SWIFTLY MOVED FROM CUSTOMER SATISFACTION TO MONEY GRAB.
