My BCP on my driveway misses so many events. It totally defeats the purpose of this camera.
I was running it without a subscription, and am aware of the limitations of it. It became so frustrating that I’ve got a plan for this one camera, expecting it to “fix” the lack of notifications. The only difference now is that, when it detects something, it tags it and gives me a short clip of the event. WHEN it detects it.
It’s got a detection zone setup, distance set to 30ft, sensitivity set to 5, and motion tagging on. It’s set for Smart detection events, but I’ve tried with ALL EVENTS and the results are the same, mediocre. Under smart motion, the only thing off is “bird”.
There’s always movement at certain times of the day, say, mornings when I walk my dogs, and leave for work. so it should detect people and vehicles.
This morning as an example, november 4th, it didn’t detect me leaving with the dogs, and then coming back home, But it detected me walking towards the road with the garbage, twice. It didn’t detect me leaving home to work (car).
Yesterday, november 3rd, it didn’t detect me, again, walking the dogs in the morning. It did detect me driving away to work. It didn’t detect me coming home at the end of the day, but did detect me and my wife leaving and coming back with the dogs (on the way to our walk it detected people and pets, but only people on the way back).
For halloween, I had over 60 kids show up, sometimes in large groups. It only detected events twice!
I also have an automation to reboot it every week, at an odd hour where there’s supposed to be no movement there. Not sure if it helps or not.

I’m on Android 16, latest security update. Wyze up latest version installed, cameras all have the latest firmware.
Is it really that crappy? I’ve had Wyze for years (V2, V3, cam pan) and it wasn’t bad at all. These battery ones are just bad? My Floodlight Pro works like a charm, every time!
Battery on this camera is always at 100%, it’s hooked up to a 5w solar panel. I have a second BCP on a area that doesn’t get as much movement, so can’t really say if it’s as bad or not.
Could this be a power optimization thing? Device going into a somewhat sleep state? Anyone else with as bad a performance as mine?
