Maybe make a new idea or a new feature for Wyze

I’m at my dad’s house and I was just thinking maybe somebody already thought of this but I was thinking maybe that should make a camera that doesn’t necessarily need Wi-Fi to record and has a feature built in the app that indicates that it is offline but also it’s recording I was talking to one of the Reps at the company on the phone and he told me it was a good idea the reason why I bring this up is because the way the world is now not to talk bad about the world I rent a room at my landlord house I know him for years not seeing you would do something bad but u never know and all he needs to do is to cut the Wi-Fi off going to my room I was told that there is a feature in the camera built in that still records if you have an SD card in it but could be offline but it also record I don’t know that just found out today also was thinking maybe if the power went out there was a battery that lasts 45 days without being plugged in they are batteries in the world that lasts without being plugged in maybe you guys so basically no Wi-Fi and not being plugged is a good camera maybe you guys can come up with one hope someone can see this idea and you guys could bring it to the table happy holidays Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all to bring it in short words these are the features

Key Features:

  1. True Offline Recording: A feature in the app that clearly shows the camera is “Offline” (Wi-Fi disconnected) but displays a “Still Recording to SD Card” status so the user has peace of mind.

  2. Extended Battery Life: A battery capable of lasting 45+ days on a single charge while recording motion events to an internal SD card without needing any wires.

  3. Renter-Friendly Security: This is specifically for people in shared living spaces where a landlord or roommate might disable the Wi-Fi. The camera should act like a “black box” flight recorder—capturing everything even if the internet is cut.

Hope to see this in a future model

No Profit for Wyze on a non-cloud connected device.

Wyze makes most all it’s profit off subscription, unlike their original business model

Other brands slightly more expensive cameras will do what your looking for just not Wyze

I understand maybe they should change that that’s it would be wyze if they did that get it  see what happened maybe they’ll bring it to the table don’t be a little bit more money I think it’s worth it

Technically with an SD card the cams will keep recording even when offline. However over the past couple of years they’ve updated the firmware for many models so that they reboot every 30 minutes to try and get back online. After the reboot, they do record, however it will be under the wrong date and time since the cam needs internet to set its time.

But technically downgrading many cams to older firmware would eliminate this behavior, but you’d probably have to stick with older versions of the app too.

So they sort of already do this but the desire by many to have the cams aggressively try to get back online resulted in adding that 30 minute reboot.

Some more advanced home wifi routers have a feature called NTP intercept, I’ve tested this on mine and even if I disable the WAN connection, the cameras can still get their time from the router, which eliminates that issue. You’d still have a like 30 second gap every 30 minutes, but otherwise, it mostly behaves as you describe.
