DON’T buy wyze led strips if you live in the middle of nowhere and prefer the convenience of an open wifi connection, because these pieces of junk will not work without a secure passworded wifi connection. How utterly insane.
You may be delusional enough to believe that you are safe with leaving your WiFi open, but you’re not. Many IoT devices will not work any more on an unsecured WiFi - nor should they. Welcome to the 2020s…

There’s actually a Wishlist topic for this, but it’s quite dated, and I don’t expect that to ever go anywhere (nor is it something I’d be likely to vote for).
