Lamp socket V2 will not stay connected to assigned camera. I have been having multiple problems with V2 sockets. AND the responses from the AI chat bots are wrong.
Big problem right now is getting a second V2 Lamp socket to stay connected consistently with the first wired Lamp socket/camera combination. After one day of acceptable connection the second Lamp socket goes offline. After the usually programmed chatbot responses of is your app and software up to date? Distance from router nonsense.
Here is what I found out during my attempts to get the Lamp sockets to work.
- Instructed to turn the power on/off 3 times rapidly to reset the Lamp socket. WRONG! Lamp socket has an led light that must turn steady red color to show it is set to default. I had to flip mine on/off 8 -10 times before the led stayed red.
- According to instructions with the V2, when installing the V2 and restoring power the attached light bulb should turn on. Light did not turn on. Could not pair the Lamp socket. Once again the Chatbot stated the V2 light will NOT turn on during the install cycle when power is restored. Got hold of a human tech who went through all the steps I previously went through and could not get the socket to pair. At this point I am ready to line up my Wyze equipment and use it for target practice.
- Reading through innumerable chat bot and other instructions, about setting the Lamp socket to factory reset, I removed the offending Lamp socket and installed the socket into a desk Lamp inside my house. Flipped power off/on three times. Get a short blinking red led then turns to a blinking blue. WRONG! Has not be factory reset. According to some other far flung instruction, the led should be a steady red color. I then proceeded to flip the power on/off 8 to 10 times and lo and behold the led stayed a solid red color. Proceeded to reinstall the socket.
- Upon the reinstall per Wyze app instruction, I turned on the power and the light bulb turned on! Chatbot said the light would not turn on for the V2. I was able to install and assign the socket to an existing camera. So far it seems to be working. Note: I have purchased three (3) Lamp socket V2 from Wyze and none of them turned on the light bulb during install. I had trouble with all three until I went through to 10 flip on/off procedure.
- Here is a new problem. I tried installing a second Lamp socket V2 to one of my existing Socket V2/V4 camera combinations. Went through the 10 off/on flip, got the red led, installed and assigned per Wyze app instruction and it seems everything okay. A day later the second Lamp socket is “offline”. Tried several times, second Lamp socket consistently goes offline. No problem with the first wired Lamp socket to my camera.
- Once again, chatbot is your app software up to date? Are you far from your router I am 8 feet from the router!
Only God knows if Wyze engineers realize what is going on with their products. I have had problems with other Wyze products such as their smart plugs not keeping programmed time for vacation. Very frustrating!
