Will the terrible range or missed motion recording be fixed with a software update? Should I just return the outdoor cam now or wait for an update?

Who knows what they will adjust and when. If I was upset enough to post a question like this (no offense intended) I would try to get my money back.

The passive infrared (PIR) motion detect is only on the bottom half field of view. The camera has to be high enough for the intended motion to be detected in the active zone (green) and will need to move across the screen to record the 12 second clip. You can adjust sensitivity but not the detect field.
