Introducing Wyze Cam Pan v3 - 1/10/23

I’d jump on those too if the price was significantly less than competitors’ optical zoom PTZ IP cams. We’re soliciting and consolidating next-gen Cam Pan ideas here: Cam Pan v4 Ideas

I find these comments interesting as I’ve paid $600 15 years ago for a camera with less resolution / abilities. @ $35 these wyze cams cost you $0.10/day if you throw them away after a year. We use our wyze cams to watch wildlife at our second home and our camper surroundings. I’ve got a few outdoor versions with solar 4-500 feet into the woods that work perfectly connected to a base in a Tupperware container on a fence post. I think their whole product line is underpriced for what you get.
Nope, I’m not a shill, paid by them, affiliated with them in anyway but as a consumer who came on board from the original preorder. I have about 20 of their devices. I’ve phased out the original ones as new become available, but that’s a want, not a need as the old ones were working.
Are they perfect, no. Are they a bargain, yes.

I’d challenge anyone to point me to anything (not just cameras) that is perfect

Everything was less expensive 15 years ago, so that’s not really a fair comparison.

You didn’t read, or don’t comprehend. I paid $600 15 years ago, that’s $911.00 today. Yet today I got a camera with a quantum leap in specs over the 600 one for $35. Today I also paid $33 for Burger Fires and Shake. Wyze cameras are an Incredible value.

Wyze Cam Pan V3 Production Firmware Update 4.50.0.3405 on Android App 2.38.1.161 lacks the “Device Notification” Smart Detection AI specific Notification Toggles that are available in the iOS app.

Notification page is listed as “Notifications” rather than “Device Notifications”

I purchased a Pan Cam V3 about a week ago. The Wyze site stated that if you are going to use this for outdoors, you also needed to purchase the outdoor power adapter. So I did.
The Cam arrived a few days ago and I proceeded to install. I get to the point where I am hanging out of the 2nd story window about to connect the outdoor adapter to the Cam and WTH? The Outdoor adapter CANNOT be used with the Cam V3 if you intend to use their “L” bracket for mounting! It will not fit due to interference between the Cam end of the power cord and the bracket. These guys never even assembled one before selling it??? Ten minutes with a Dremel tool and I was back in business. But this is a complete screw-up on Wyze! How can they send me a product that cannot be assembled properly?? I sent them a few emails about this. All of which have been ignored…

I would return the Outdoor Power Adapter you received. It was confusing how they presented it, but that wasn’t the power adapter they were talking about. They wanted to convey that you need the second version of that power adapter, which hasn’t been released yet. Expected this month, though.

Too late!!! I will use it with my modifications… as is.

From what I understand you don’t need the other adapter unless you are plugging the adapter to an outdoor outlet.

They should have explained that, if true. In either case, it does not fit!

You are correct. The only item not rated for outdoor use on the PanV3 is the 2amp power adapter that plugs into the socket and the USB-A end of PanV3 cord that plugs into it. So long as those run indoors, good to go.

Pretty much the same as every other outdoor rated Wyze Cam.

Yes they should have explained it better, I almost made the same mistake. The power adapter for the V3 is made to mount the cam outside and plug it in inside. The power adapter for the V3 pan cam is for plugging the V3 pan cam outside and plugging it in outside with the right angle plug. So in my case I just needed a usb-a extension.

Ys, the outdoor adapters are for the non pan units. I haven’t really found a usable application for the outdoor power supply other than it fits better into an outdoor - closed while in use outlet box. But unless you do as I do and have outlets in the soffits, you still end up with unsightly wires. I put 16 double gang boxes in the soffits during construction and only use a single side and tuck any extra wire into the LV side of the box. The initial purpose was xMas lights, but we hardwired in Led strips permanently to cover all holidays, so most of the outlets aren’t in use. .

Yeah, I like the camera but I hate wired outdoor cams. In the spot I wanted to put my test v3, I’d have to buy a bigger masonry drill than I have here and go through a block wall. Since it’s into the garage I could buy an extension cord to reach it.
After some thought, since the v3 has a better image and features than my old Conico pan in the back, I can put it on the shed and run an extension cord to it from the sprinkler controller outlet; then move the cordless Conico to the front.
Which beats my other idea of making the USB adapter weatherproof; I have spare polyurethane caulking
Soffit boxes are a very smart thing to have these days!
