Introducing Wyze Cam Pan v3 - 1/10/23

I’m sorry but this is not a good looking camera and just another product that Wyze sells which will have software issues. And no doubt they will release a “Pro” version of this next, just so people will spend more money to upgrade, instead of releasing the Pro right from the start since they already have the V3 Pro.

Welcome to capitalism. Wyze, just like any other company is in business to make money. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Nobody is forcing you to do anything.

Don’t worry I won’t be purchasing it. Besides it doesn’t even have the Starlight sensor.

How is this considered an Easter Egg?

Thanks for the suggestion, but this one is a round cable that won’t work with my cable mgmt that Im using now on my V3 cam. Looking for a Flat cable. Flat is less noticeable and will fit the small corner of the garage door without interference. Found one flat one, but its 2 ft too short.

Well then there it is. Thanks for pointing it out!

Just buy one. You know you can’t “resist”. The excess internal space in the large Cam Pan v1/v2 has been eliminated resulting in a smaller footprint. The panning noise has been significantly reduced to the point that I would call this cam quiet. The redesign results in a useful tilt. And it’s finally IP65 rated. I never really needed a Cam Pan, but the improvements and redesign steered me to a 2-pack as the cam finally suits a few of my use cases. I just wish it had an optical zoom ($$$).

I ordered a bunch yesterday morning and they arrived today. I can’t even mount them for a week till I go to my other house. I did set them all up, updated the FW and followed the Cat around the kitchen. He’s not impressed, but I am.
Got a few SD cards and some vinyl siding brackets coming.

Do we assume (a) no onboard AI for person detection and (b) no CamPlus Lite compatibility either?

Nice to see someone complaining about fast shipping, lol. That’s a pretty cool change!

Hope your other house uses the same network name & password as the house you set them up in. I do that between mine and my sister’s houses so I can set things up for her.

No onboard AI for person detection yet (can be a firmware thing I think, so may still come?), and no new cameras are compatible with Cam Plus Lite.

Those programs are always for all the cams that proceed the program’s introduction. Good news is Cam Plus Lite gave the V3 powers it didn’t have under the Legacy Person Detection program, so maybe whatever the next iteration of the program is will include all the cameras released since Cam Plus Lite.

In the meantime it does capture to SD card without a license, as all Wyze cameras do.

Yup, same network setup. That’s the way I’ve been doing networks ( mine ) forever. Saves a lot of hassle.

I haven’t been this excited for a released cam since the V3! Ordered one right away, can’t wait to get it in the mail!

Yes! I was just thinking about optical zoom the other day, that would be awesome! Throwing 1 more little motor in there shouldn’t be too hard, right?

I have an awesome 21x optical zoom camera about the size of a Wyze cam (42x with its 2x digital zoom). Because of all the optics that also have to be incorporated, it retailed 15 years ago for like $2,000. So more than a motor.

Oh wow, yea i guess that’s why Wyze hasn’t done that yet :grimacing:

It shuts down the camera/audio, and points the camera down at the other cube for peace of mind.

As normal, you can schedule ‘turn off the camera’, but Privacy Mode is selectable from what used to be the “More” menu. It is now a menu that appears below live stream that is scrollable to the right.

Think I’ll wait for a version with better resolution, built in light and an optical zoom. But sadly the price point would probably be more than I’m willing to pay.
