Android version 2.37.1.134, which is the current version listed in the Play Store. Support says that the Cam Pan v3 is only supported in the beta version of the app.
As Newshound indicated, the current Wyze app 2.38.1.161 provides support for Cam Pan v3. You’ll need to determine why your phone/tablet won’t update to the current Wyze app version in the Google Play Store. I added my Cam Pan v3 cams this morning using current Android app 2.38.1.161 and current iOS app 2.38.3.3:
iOS 2.38.3.3 is missing the Cam Pan V3
Android 2.38.1.161 has the Cam Pan V3
Not sure if this will clear up your iOS app issue, but it’s worth a try:
Try clearing cache at: Wyze app Home > Account > App Settings > Clear
Back up one screen and tap “Sign Out”
Restart your phone
Start Wyze app and log back in
If that doesn’t work, log out of the Wyze app, Remove the app, Reinstall from App Store, log in and wait for the cloud to reload all of your saved Wyze devices and settings, retry.
Thanks. That fixed it. It’s an extreme rarity for iOS, usually the Android app requires the cache and app deletion for new products.
Maybe for each new release and especially hotfixes of the iOS app: establish an “Upgrading App” transition, copy the old, upgrade the plist with the new list of product assets and delete the old plist upon launching the app
It’s definitely odd, but I’m glad to hear you’re able to add your CPv3 cams now.
Perhaps the reason I’ve never run into this issue on iOS/iPadOS is because I reboot them every morning, effectively clearing cache. They aren’t my primary devices.
The version in the Google Play Store is the version that was updated in November 2022. There is no newer version available. Also, the app beta is full, so that isn’t an option. Any advice on how to proceed?
I was wondering if an extension cable like this would work? https://www.amazon.com/Sumind-Extension-Extender-Wireless-Security/dp/B07L9SVBDG/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=JTIBVT9IM9AY&keywords=mini+usb+extension+cable&qid=1673463352&sprefix=mini+usb+extension%2Caps%2C112&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzOFBDRDdUMU1GRVI3JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUExMDIzMDM2MURaQ0tEMzBKODk4VSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjA5ODQ2VDJXNjZGN0lSUjkzJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
I do plug the power inside but need more then 6 foot to get there.
No because the end going into the pan cam needs to be Wyze’s 90 degree plug to ensure it seals correctly. So you need a cord with a usb-a male to go into the power adapter and then a USB-A female to let the Wyze cord plug into it. Then if that connection sticks outside, make sure to water proof that (maybe with self Fusing silicone tape or something).
Something more like this:
Thanks, but I was thinking of using the Wyze plug into the camera and adding the extension to reach the plug. Also the specs show micro usb not usb 3.0 and yes I would use a heat shrink tube over it for waterproofing.
I guess I will wait to actually see the cable to make sure of the connections on both ends.
One end is 90 degree micro USB the other end is USB A. The USB 3.0 has no bearing, it’s just USB protocol that is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. The extension cord that @carverofchoice linked should go into the wall adapter and the Wyze supplied cable into the extension cord and Wyze cam.
Thanks! I do get confused about all the USB plugs! Glad I asked before I ordered it.
When I open my Android Play Store, it says it was last updated 1/4/23 and the version is 2.38.1.161.
And that matches the Release Notes page.
I just about ordered a 2 pack, but after looking at the micro usb that plugs in the camera, I did not complete the order. As many have said, I need at least a 15ft extension cable that can plug into the cable that comes with the cam. Im looking for a flat cable, not a “big” round cable A male to A female. It would have been a much better solution if the cam had a pigtail like the Cam V3. If Wyze can recommend a flat usb extension cable, Im all ears for that solution. Thanks
Here is one, Amazon is choke full of all kind of cables.
I don’t understand the thinking here. Why make an outdoor capable camera that does not work with a solar panel? I would have loved to mount this outside but lack of a solar power source makes it a no-go for me.
It is quite simple, because the Pan V3 does not have a battery.
If you want to add a battery and all of the required equipment, then a solar panel will keep the battery charged.
Keep in mind however, continuous recording will drain most batteries in a matter of hours.
Unless you go with 100W panel and 100AH battery and a solar control charger, $500 more or less.
