I agree that this is something Wyze should build into the app, though, so that iOS users have the same customization options, and it’s why I’ve also voted for a related Wishlist topic:
Ive been asking for this for quite some time. We need more support from Wyze users on this one. Ring offers assigning differing notification sounds for separate cameras. I wish Wyze would do so. Ed in Columbus, Ohio
I’ve had this very request in for quite some time now. When I get a notification from a camera, it actually has an image of the actual camera type and the name that I assigned to that camera. So I don’t understand how difficult it could be to convert that name from text to voice, so I wouldn’t have to run to my iPad to find out which area was sending me the alert.
This is a real world problem and need. I have been asking for this same feature since spring of 2021. In Android messages, I have unique notification sounds for each of my children and for other relatives so I know from the sound who is texting me. It is a function of the App not Android. If other Apps can do this, why can’t Wyze also do this? This functionality is probably just a software library to add on and use.
Hello
as of today there is only 1 notification sound for both movement and when some one presses the doorbell to ring it.
this make is hard to know if someone presses the doorbell or if it just picking up movement.
can you please make a seperat notification sound for when some on presses the bell
Instead of being notified the same as everything else, you can enable VoIP. This will ring your phone when the doorbell is pressed. To activate VoIP, you would go to:
Account > Notifications > Push Notifications > Voice Over IP
Then check the Voice Over IP Calls and if wanted the Ignore Notification Status.
In addition
If you have Alexa, you can have Alexa Announce when the Doorbell has been pressed.
As a developer (primarily Android), I understand the complexity behind app development—but I’m genuinely surprised it’s taken this long to implement a basic feature like distinct notification sounds for motion vs. doorbell presses.
I’ve installed four Doorbell V2 units and around ten Wyze Cam V4s for friends and family. I’m also a member of Wyze Cam Unlimited, so I’ve been fully invested in the ecosystem and have supported the brand for a while.
To be clear, I know how to set a custom notification sound beyond the three built-in tones. That’s not the issue.
What’s missing is the ability to assign different sounds for motion vs. doorbell presses—along with a simple cooldown option (e.g., 2 minutes) to prevent alert fatigue. I also want to note that I have no interest in using the VoIP call feature. I just want distinct, simple sounds for motion and doorbell press so I can quickly understand what triggered the alert without opening the app.
Right now, we’re bombarded with alerts that all sound the same. Over time, they become background noise—and we end up ignoring even the important ones. That defeats the entire purpose of having a smart doorbell.
This isn’t a rant—it’s just the end of the road for me. After waiting this long for such a fundamental feature, I can no longer recommend the Wyze Doorbell for new installs. I’ve already started advising friends and family to look elsewhere. Once my Wyze Cam Unlimited plan runs out this fall, I’ll be switching my doorbell over to a Ring system.
It’s frustrating because the hardware and potential are solid—but without basic usability improvements like this, it’s hard to justify staying in the ecosystem. I genuinely hope Wyze considers this feedback seriously. A small change here could make a big difference for loyal users.
I appreciate the way you explained this. It’s something I’d really like to see them devote some attention to—hopefully in a way that would also benefit iOS users, even though I’m Team Android—as well as making use of Notification Channels.
I definitely agree that they should implement this, and you outlined some great rationales why.
It’s less about “taking so long” than agreeing to consider it in the first place.
I definitely need this feature too. I have over 300 Wyze devices (only 60-ish are cameras), so the notifications/sounds are almost worthless to me now. The way I work around it right now is in the following ways:
I have a notification parser app (Macrodroid, Tasker, or Buzzkill) watch Wyze notifications and then do something unique for different kinds of notifications (including any sound I want through my phone…sometimes even TTS)
Have Alexa (or the Wyze WiFi Chime) make different sounds or announcements for different notifications.
The above have worked really well for me so far. Well enough that haven’t been frustrated or feel like I need to replace my Wyze stuff. However, I shouldn’t have had to use 3rd party solutions to solve the problem. Wyze should implement it themselves. Doorbells are a really great example.
It would be great if the app allowed a distinct notification sound for smoke/CO alarms—and even better if those alerts could override silent mode. Most people would want to know if their house is on fire.
I was driving when my phone started going off, but the smoke/CO alert blended in with regular app notifications. Thankfully, the house didn’t burn down, though we did have smoke damage and a destroyed range hood.
Having the app produce—or, even better, allowing the user to select—a distinct notification sound when Smoke Alarm Sound and/or CO Alarm Sound is toggled on seems like an excellent use case for the Notification Channels request. Developers could create a “WyzeAlarm” channel (at least for Android; I’m not sure how that works on iOS), which would allow users to select their own notification sound whenever a notification is generated in that channel.
I’m not sure exactly what is meant by “override silent mode”, but I interpret this as allowing the user to override a phone’s “Do Not Disturb” setting, and that’s something else that would be possible in Android on an individual Notification Channel basis if the app was coded to allow for that. (Again, I’m unsure about iOS.)
I brought a similar suggestions multiple times but Wyze ignores me. Why can’t Wyze create software that allows for each Wyze cam to send different notification sounds so that the sound assigned to each camera gives US immediate notice of where the motion is detected. Instead, Wyze is more concerned about stupid fancy stuff such as Favorites that do not function half the time and when in use detracts from the IMPORTANT security functions needed from the cams on the network.I believe that Automations is another waste of time.
Yes! It would be much useful…. That and put back detection zone while in movement tracking to be able to cancel the street and not follow and receive a notification for every car that passes in the street. Only follow cars and peoples in my driveway and yard… I had to cancel tracking and I often need to mute notifications on my most important cam… I can’t position it so it can’t see the street at all…. The 2 other cams get lost in the noise of the main one… I end up by not checking my notifications…. I didn’t have this problem before they removed detection zone while tracking. At least if there was different sounds….
Different notification sounds for each device/type of notification
I would like an update that allows different notification sounds for each device. In particular, with the doorbell camera, I would like a notification sound option for the app when the doorbell is rang that is separate from the movement/sound detection notification. Thank you.

Wyze notifications really need to be more customizable. Each camera should be able to use its own unique notification sound so I can immediately tell which location triggered the alert. Camera 1 and Camera 2 may be in completely different areas, and having distinct sounds would make it far more convenient to know what’s happening without even looking at my phone.
I totally agree and brought this up a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, Wyze is more concerned with nonsensical stuff like their “Favorites” nonsense which does not work efficiently, if at all. And other stupid stuff like automations which are just dumb things that detract from their network which constantly needs to be juiced up to keep up with their nonsense. I use my cameras for security not to watch the dog in the yard. It would be worthwhile if we could tailor the notification sounds to each camera so we know immediately which camera detects motion without having to open the app. I want to know IMMEDIATELY if an intruder has trespassed onto my property. Customizing notification sounds to each camera would do the trick.
I use MacroDroid, free to install for 6 automations. I made automations that detect the notification and play a mp3 file. (my recorded voice) for the camera in question. Like front door, or backyard etc. WOrks really well. (android)
