Important Safety Notice: Wyze Solar Cam Pan

I think that’s probably the right idea at this point. Since Wyze has updated the installation instructions (and even pushed a new YouTube video a few days ago that includes the update), I would expect the product to be available some time in the future. Since you still have some time before your warranty coverage runs out, I think waiting to see if you can get a direct replacement is a reasonable idea.

In my experience with this—as I noted in the post I linked above—I’ve sometimes had to repeatedly press or press-hold SETUP in order to get the Cam to begin its startup calibration dance, so you can still try fiddling with that while you’re waiting for another replacement option if you think your hands can take it, or maybe recruit a kid with video game button thumbs.:+1:

You have done many of these steps, and if you don’t want to repeat them, I totally get it because it can be so frustrating.

The first step is to make sure you have the latest app installed. If you are in the beta program, go ahead and remove yourself from the program in either the App Store or Google Play. Uninstall the app and then reboot your phone. When your phone is back up, download the Wyze app from the App Store. Then check the version number and make sure there’s no letter ’ b ’ in the number, which would indicate that you are on the beta version.

I know you said you don’t have a memory card in the slot, but it’s worth pulling the cover to check and make sure there isn’t. I can’t imagine how there would be one, and you would know if you looked in the app, it would show that there’s a memory card there. But still check. If there is a card, remove it.

This should have no impact; however, sometimes it affects the cam. Now unplug the wire from the solar panel to the camera.

Now, power the camera from a 5-volt power supply, such as another Wyze camera power adapter.

Check to make sure that the camera is visible in the app and that you can view a live image

With the camera powered on, remove/delete the cam from the app. This will force a factory reset, and you should hear the voice say that the camera is being reset to factory settings.

Now add the camera back to your account and see if it’s working as you expect.

If it’s still not working, it’s worth checking whether the issue is with your account.

So if you wish to continue troubleshooting. Remove the camera from your account again. You should hear the message saying that the camera is being reset to factory settings.

Log out of your current account in the Wyze app.

Now, create a new Wyze account with a new email address. Create a brand new account don’t use a secondary account where you’ve already shared one more cameras to that account. Start as if this is the very first camera you’ve ever installed. I have found when you do this to really hard for the wise ninjas to try to point and blame to a whole flew of other things if it’s a brand new account and it only has one camera.

Once logged in to the new account, add the camera to it.

Then check your firmware. If it works then the problem is you old account and not the camera. If the camera still doesn’t work then you know the problem is not with your old account. If it turns out the problem is with your old account the ninjas aren’t able to really do anything except refer to engineering. And I’ve been waiting for engineering to look at what are my accounts where the problem is the account for over 3 months and nothing has happened yet.

As someone said earlier, the camera is still under warranty, so hang tight and ask Wise to send you a replacement camera when it’s available.

I’m really sorry you’re having to go through all this stress. It is super frustrating, and the camera and the account should not be so sensitive to the account setup process.

From your earlier posts, it’s clear you’re doing everything right, so hang in there. Good luck.

Steve

So, when will this be “fixed” and available for purchase again? I really need this device!

Easiest way not to lose the machine screws is to screw them into the battery housing - even if you use the solar panel separately.. If you later decide to have the panel directly connected to the battery housing there are still there.
