What I like about Tapo is the ability to simultaneously view up to 9 cameras.
Reolink can show up to 14 on the smartphone app and 32 on the client app in simultaneous cams viewing ![]()
I was talking about on a same page on a tablet. 32 even 14 would be overkill on a phone ![]()
Same here, changed email and lost all 6 camers cameras
Iâve had too many issues too with Wyze cameras, still have them up in some places because theyâre cheap and work most of the time, but Iâve been switching to Reolink cameras, very good reviews, very easy to set up and share, and solid performance. Granted theyâre not perfect either, but they for the most part âjust workâ, which canât always be said about Wyze.
Iâm going to be setting up a full wired security system soon, and for that Iâm going to go all Ubiquiti - they just released a $700 NVR & camera kit, as well as a $100 doorbell, so if youâre not afraid of running ethernet theyâre hard to beat for performance.
Also on the thermostat side, the wyze one was fine but there were some usability issues that just never got fixed, it was pretty much forgotten about, so I switched to Ecobee and have never been happier. All the features I was wanting and missing from Wyze, and easier for uninformed family members to use.
Iâve learned over time that brand loyalty gets you nowhere, and you canât buy promises. Get what works for you now, regardless of who makes it, and if it doesnât work toss it and move on, youâll be glad you did.
While Iâm a big fan of Ubiquiti, donât expect their cameras to be problem free. The main attraction of their cameras is mostly the ability to be able to use them with an existing ubiquiti gateway or other device that has the ability to control the cameras and have storage installed in it. Neither Ubiquiti or Wyze are security companies. I wouldnât have a Simplisafe router for the same reason I wouldnât rely on a networking company for premise security. Not that Iâm saying Simplisafe is a great security brand, just an example to make the point.
If youâre going to invest that kind of money in a wired system and dedicated NVR, Iâd look at Lorex or another brand that has been doing that for ages. For other aspects of security, go with brands that specialize in it and have a long, good track record.
But if youâre in the $700 budget range for cameras, youâre in a different league from Wyze cameras anyway.
Go for it brother! ![]()
Thanks for giving a plug to a Canadian brand my friend! ![]()
Just trying to encourage more tariff revenue. Weâre broke after all.

I thought all those tariffs are making you all rich ![]()
Nah we had to give refunds.
What a circus, eh! ![]()
I have 16 cameras running (inside & outside) and probably another dozen in a box waiting for action. Have been using these for years.
I guess I just accepted the performance and glitches over the years, until reading this thread.
- Cameras connect intermittently, 3 of the cameras specifically - sometimes theyâre working sometimes no connection. Frustrating
- No matter how many times I set them up for continuous recording very few actually do this. If itâs a âuserâ problem - then they should make it easier to manage.
- I have the extra dozen because I buy them during sales, and I probably have 2 die each year - regularly for 10 years.
- The Pan is the worst camera in their lineup. Iâve bought 4 of these and only one is still operational
- I loved Wyze because they were disruptive, inexpensive and cool. Now theyâve become a buffet of products - pizza, Indian, milkshakes, French food on the menu⌠and theyâve lost sight of their cameras. This is a very normal pattern that many companies follow (Day One, 1password and others). Youâd think this would make a 101 list for âhow to not screw your users and early adoptersâ.
Iâve always subscribed to their yearly service, but this year when it renews I wonât be. Selling the house and weâre going to travel non-stop.
PS - the one time we had a break-in, the quality of the video wasnât good enough to get good stills, and 2 cameras failed to catch the guy at all. Woke up at 3am with a dude in our room⌠(not fun). Also could not get his license plate as the car moved slowly away⌠So - protection theatre really. Good luck guys.
Not judging, just curious, Why havenât you moved away from Wyze?
I definitely thought brand loyalty and believing in their company culture was a thing but I have not got the customer/tech support to honor my loyalty and it kinda sucks since I have many devices ( some of their firsts: 2 of the v1, the 1st doorbell, thermostat, pan cam, outdoor wireless cams and floodlight) v3, v4, og, router pro, light switch, plugs, light strips, scale, lock bolt and 2 of the duo pan cams that I havenât even unboxed due to renovations at our home. I bought into the brand due to the affordability initially and recommended them but it seems they are failing to provide the support that is needed. I have issues with the router, sd cards and bluetooth losing connection to certain devices like the lock bolt. It may be time to look elsewhere. Customer service pretty much is nonexistent in the world these days so I donât have a lot of hope.
Trying a Tapo C121 and find it to be a good camera that definitely is competitively priced to compete with Wyze.
Much better than Wyze as no subscription needed and no camera hobbling without subscription.
No Stupid Wyze 5 minute cool-down crap between notifications if not on subscription.
Notifications are very fast compared to Wyze that sometimes delays the notification to the point that it kind of useless as the event has been over for some time.
Looks like Tapo will be replacing the V3âs and my use of Wyze cams will be overâŚ
The Tapoâs actually load faster when off-site on cellular data compared to my Reolinkâs but that is due to the Reolinkâs being 4k and using far more bandwidth, but locally on the network they are about the same loading.
It is a shame, they started off great, then down hill from there
Thanks for confirming that Tapo cams are viable contenders for replacing Wyze. Personally I donât care for 2 or 4K cameras. HD is plenty for me.
