Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on a custom web controller for the Wyze Car, using a Wyze Cam v2 running Thingino firmware.
The controller runs directly on the camera. You open a page in your phone or computer’s browser to see the live feed and drive the car. Normal operation stays on your local network, with no Wyze account, cloud service, or separate server required.
Features
- Live camera feed alongside the controls
- Touch joystick for phones and tablets
- Arrow keys or WASD for keyboard control
- Slow/Fast speed selection and headlight control
- Emergency stop button and spacebar shortcut
- Automatic stopping when control input stops arriving
- Protection against delayed commands restarting movement after you release the controls
The camera connects to the Car through USB, and you use the Car’s normal powerbank setup for untethered driving.
Repository and installation instructions:
This is an experimental, independent community project. Basic driving and stopping have been tested on a physical Wyze Car with a Thingino Cam v2. Other cameras, including the v3, haven’t been verified with this controller yet.
If you have a Wyze Car gathering dust and enjoy tinkering with Thingino, I’d love to hear how it works for you. Feedback, bug reports, and contributions are welcome!
