We set up our Cam Pan V3 last weekend for the entire purpose of scanning and tracking motion in our backyard- animal or human. However, if “track motion” is turned on, the camera gets stuck on the constant ripples in our pond.
I have left dozens of “feedback” reports on the pond ripples over the past few days, labeling them as a lighting change, but the motion is still triggering recording. We need to use the Pan Scan feature so creating a detection zone won’t work.
What can I do so the camera ignores the ripples but still tracks other motion?
Unfortunately when using track motion, you can’t use “detection zone”. Have you tried lowering the detection sensitivity? The only other option is placing the cam where it can’t see the pond and is unlikely to track something over to it (at which point it then gets stuck on it). Or at least positioning it so that it will rarely see the pond, like only when it tracks something? Maybe lowering the camera down so the reflections aren’t as bright (shallower angle to the pond)?
You say you’re doing feedback so I’m assuming you have a subscription, but unfortunately the “smart detections” won’t stop motion tracking from following other stuff on the Panv3. That feedback only tells them if it was classified as the wrong thing, it won’t change anything to do with motion tracking.
The Panv4 does have “smart motion tracking” but I think it is only for people and vehicles.
The “nuclear” option is to ditch the pan cam and use 2 or 3 standard cams to cover the same area, and then you can use detection zone(s).
Cam Pan v4 has “Smart Tracking” for Person, Pet, and Vehicle, and this can be prioritized (i.e., the user can reorder the detection types for what’s important, check/uncheck preferences, etc.).
