How many cameras?

I have a 100MB wireless system. I have 4 channels on the system (I’m not using the 5G options.) I also added a wireless extender. My router and the extension work well. What is the maximum number of cameras I can have assigned to one channel? Should I spread them out across the non 5g channels?

There are times that all six monitors I have work well with the eight cameras I have. Then there are times the two or three of the monitors/tablets are continuously buffering or resetting when nothing has changed.

Am I missing something? or is this inherent?

Most Wyze cameras only work on the 2.4Ghz WiFi band. In some WiFi routers you may be able to designate it to use 2.4Ghz channels 1, 6 and 11 to try to reduce congestion.

I have 5 Wyze Cam v3 cameras that worked well on my old Linksys EA6350 and work even better on my new Asus GT-BE98 Pro router as I no longer need to use a WiFi extender in my house.

You might want to consider a different WiFi router or Mesh system for your area. Hard to say if your buffering is from weak WiFi signal or possible interference.

That will depend on how many devices your router can support. Most cheap consumer routers support 28-32 devices. Bit more expensive ones will support 70-128 and so forth.

Here is another thread you may find interesting.

At one point I have had as many as 36 Wyze cams connected to 2 Wifi channels on 2.4 GHz they worked just fine. Now down to 20 Wyze cameras currently.

As I have been replacing them with 4k Reolink Cams

It all depends on your router and wireless access points
