Home Monitoring Sense Hub & Keypad - Chime when Doors/Windows are opened

VERY frustrated! I cannot turn my chime off unless I am subscribing to the HMS (config option does not exist unless you subscribe). This it NOT right!!! Please help.

Entry Notice for sensors in Home Monitoring Service—when you open an entry sensor, the Hub will play a sound.

Thanks. Now, how do you turn them off if you aren’t using the HMS subscription?

Exactly! This is a real problem for me, and I don’t care for this ā€œpay $4.99 and you’ll be able to turn off the Chimeā€ feature. Sorry again, but VERY frustrating. And I confess that I am a security system product manager, by occupation. Thank you all.

Update, had an alarm, siren doesn’t play either. I have nothing audible coming from my hub

Agree. I was planning on converting my existing wired whole-house system by replacing (~15) mag contact sensors with Wyze-sensors. I need the (door) chime function for a few selected sensors. I will not use Wyze for this if I am forced to pay for an HMS subscription to get this functionality. RIDICULOUS. I’ll use a different system instead.

Hello, Can anyone clarify this feature has been implemented and works? Son just got to the point where he can open doors and I need something ASAP. I love the cameras so I thought to look here first.

Can it:

  • Chime if door sensor are triggered even if the system is not armed (or any sensor, like motion)
  • Chime on my phone even if the sound is turned off
  • Chime on certain sensors only during certain hours of the day (like 9pm-8am)

Thanks yall.

Answers to your questions:

Yes you can set the system to chime when doors are opened, but not for motion. Right now the function is either on or off by sensor but there isn’t any scheduling. Not sure what you mean by chiming on your phone. You can set alerts to be sent to your phone if a door is opened but not sure what you mean by if the sound is turned off. The alerts work regardless of the settings for the ā€œTuneā€ on the sensors in the Home Monitoring system, if you configure the alerts.

If you used Echo Dots as the announcer, could you schedule the chime
between certain times during the day. The echo dot allows for it to
announce which door by creating a separate trigger for each.

Quite true, but the hub would still chime if activated in the settings. I was trying to answer in terms of the Wyze app and hardware since the OP didn’t mention any other options.

I just checked and yes you can trigger an announcement via echo dot if the door sensor is tripped (opened) between certain times.

WildBill understood. By using Echo Dot you can also have announcement made over the Dot when Wyze motion sensor triggers it as well.

Using announcements you can have the message delivered to all echo devices or only selected ones. I’ve used that a lot before the tune setting was a thing.

Note that Chime configuration (On/Off) cannot be configured/changed unless you pay for the home monitoring service.

Thank you all. The echo dot things sounds super cool, I have one! So far the Wyze seems like the most affordable option I can go for right now without spending $500 + $25 monthly…

The settings on the app appear to save but I still do not get a siren on alarm or an audible chime.

I also toggled through the different sound levels as well.

Edit: this is on the latest update

Has anyone seen an issue where you can’t toggle sensors off? I have 3 sensors that won’t stay off when I toggle them. They go back to on. Seems like a bug.

Does anyone have any idea how quickly HMSs are shipping these days? I’ve hemmed and hawed and now decided I want one… :upside_down_face:

If it says in stock I’d expect it in a week. The longer you delay here is the longer it will take. :upside_down_face:

Yeah, I’d love to get it in by Tuesday before Thanksgiving, but I know that’s not happening. So I don’t want to order and have it come in while we’re away. We haven’t had any delivered packages stolen before. But I don’t think I could take the irony of my new HMS getting stolen… :joy: I think I saw one at a Home Depot, so I may check a couple of those. Also Microcenter may have one… We’ll see…

UPDATE: Looks like Wyze has changed the online pricing strategy for HMS, so buying the startup system at retail is cheaper now. AND it comes with 6 mos od monitoring! So I can get running by Thanksgiving after all…:+1:t3: fyi, both HD and Microcenter have them in stock locally according to their websites.
