I had what was a very strange problem, for me anyway, and wondered if anybody might have an explanation. I’m still on the initial 30 day trial of CamPlus with this camera.
The microSD card (64GB) I used in the Cam Pan v3 was formatted in the camera in exFAT format using the Android app on a Pixel phone w Android 14. The app is v2.50.9 (512) and the camera is 4.50.4.9222, but I’m not certain that was the version on the camera that gave me the trouble. It may have updated during the reset.
When I extracted the MicroSD card, I noticed that the partition name was showing up in Korean symbols instead of regular English letters. I copied them to get them translated and Google Translate says they mean “jjuing zhé” and a search to translate that shows it means “to startle hibernating insects”. OK, just try reading that while troubleshooting and NOT reach for a tin foil hat.
Has anybody ever had THAT happen?
more details:
The beginning of the troubles: Cam Pan v3 was shown as ‘offline’ but I could still view the live video and control the camera from the phone app but it wouldn’t connect with the web app. The app would let me turn the camera off and on, but not restart it. I even tried disconnecting the USB cable from the wall wart but nothign changed.
A few days later, it finally wouldn’t let me do anything from the phone app either. So, I got out the ladder to take the camera down and inside to try a factory reset.
The instructions for the factory reset didn’t mention to start a support log before the reset until the END of the instructions. Since I’m now a ‘user’ and no longer ‘support’ I didn’t read the instructions before using them, so I didn’t start a support log. I also didn’t notice the part about taking the MicroSD card out before doing a factory reset, either, at first, but since I couldn’t get the factory reset to complete, I went ahead and read the instructions all the way through. Then it worked.
I couldn’t mount the MicroSD card, so I have no idea what was on it before I reformatted it and reset the camera.
They’re both working now, so far…
