Google Assistant Replaced with Google Gemini

Google is phasing out Assistant for Gemini. Wyze integration worked well with Assistant. You could say something like " Hey Google, turn off my lights" and it would turn off the Wyze lights. With newer Google updates, Assistant is disappearing. Now when you say, “Hey Google, turn off my lights”, Gemini replies with “I don’t have access to your smart home controls”. I’ve check that the Wyze account is linked to the Google Home App, but it still doesn’t work. Has anyone else had this problem? Have you been able to fix it?

I haven’t used Assistant in a long time (years on my phone & tablets and a year on the Google hub displays). All my Wyze lights and other devices have been working fine with Gemini.

Though once in a while I have gotten that error. It seemed to me like it runs a different command depending on what I say.

One thing I would make sure is that you have all devices assigned to particular rooms.
It also helps if you say the device name exactly.

“Hey Google, turn on the light” will work if the Google device and Wyze bulb are assigned to the same room. If not, Google might turn on every single light in the house.

I should pay attention to when it errors out. There’s some way of saying things it doesn’t like.

If I was getting this issue a lot, I would consider unlinking Wyze and then re linking Wyze. I have had to do that far in the past to fix something and it worked.

I use Assistant/Gemini on my home speakers and I can say it works. It is temperamental in that it works and then suddenly the speakers get dumb and say they can’t control them. “Most” of the time, it works just fine.

This is exactly the advice I would give too.

I’m pretty sure @tc10 uses Google to control his devices since I believe it was he who used Google/nest a lot and used to answer my questions about how nest cameras and services work.

Yes, I have 5 Google Nest cams (2 on Nest app for functionality not ported to Google Home) and 2 Google speakers.

However my preferred primary is Alexa with speakers in each room. For my requirements, I found Alexa and its rooms& routines much better than Google Assistant.
