Geofence notifications that actually work as intended?

As I sit here, my phone is buzzing every few seconds from the camera that is in my room. The same camera that is added to a geofence area that IS SUPPOSED to turn notifications off when I’m home. Had the same thing happen with two other cameras in the living room, and had to completely disable notifications for those.. I’m about ready to toss these things.

Really simple…

  • When I’m home, I don’t want notifications on my phone.
  • When I’m away, I do want notification on my phone.

You probably have to disable power saving for the wyze app in your OS (unlimited battery use) and may also have to enable the “running in background” in the app too. Android likes to kill apps to save battery/memory. I gave the geofencing a try once and it just used way too much battery on the phone.

Thanks. Will check those out. Really annoying to have my phone buzz dozens of times because I just happen to move while I’m sitting in the living room.

Unfortunately it does use a lot of battery. Reading through some of the posts, it sounds like there are other ways to do it. I don’t really want to have to rely on other apps to make it work, nor do I want to have to remember to turn it on or off.

Also ensure that your location permission in android for the wyze app is set to high accuracy.

Given WYZE’s previous security breaches I turn OFF my inside cameras when someone’s home.

Leaving the cameras ON and turning off Notifications still sends event images and video clips to WYZE cloud.
