Floodlight V2 Appears to be Dead

The camera is not dead. I do not broadcast my SSID except when connecting devices like this. I was able to connect when I broadcast SSID but then it goes offline when I stop the broadcast. My other cameras once connected dont need the SSID broadcasted. Why do they work but not the flood v2?

Just make your ssid visible for now until Wyze can fix. For someone who wants to break into your WiFi, hiding the ssid isn’t going to stop him.

I don’t have an answer, but I’ve passed along your response about the firmware version. Thank you for sharing that! :+1:

So interestingly, I also use a hidden SSID. I can’t get mine to ever get back to where it says it’s ready to connect, just get the red led and nothing. So I’m not sure if mine is able to be fixed. It’s raining today so I’ll make some more attempts tomorrow before pulling it down. Just to verify- you broadcast the SSID, and then hid it again and it continued remain connected?

I have the exact same problem. Some time after 5/27 both my Cam V2 went off line and my Floodlight V2 went offline. I was able to get the Cam V2 back online by deleting the device and using a broadcasting SSID, but not a Non-boradcasting SSID. I have not tackled the Floodlight as it requires a ladder to reset it.

How do we get notified when the software is fixed to accommodate a non-boradcasting SSID?

Now that you have a visible ssid, have you tried power cycling the floodlight V2?

You have to watch out for Wyze app releases that simply say, “bug fixes”.

We have several Wyze cameras including two Wyze Floodlight Cam V2 units. We had a power outage yesterday and after the power outages all cameras (V4,V2, DoorBell V2, V3) came back up with the exception of the two Floodlight Cam V2’s we have. Deleted the two cams and tried adding them as new devices and even factory reset them nothing worked. Tried every troubleshooting step that the AI phone wizard suggested with no avail. Finally talked with Alfred from support and he indicated that since my Android phone was on the same SSID it should auto populate during the setup process even if the SSID was hidden, not broadcast. This wasn’t happening and I was manually entering the SSID. I thought this use to work. Finally we tried unhiding (broadcasting) the SSID and both cameras connected. Our SSID has never been broadcast, so I believe a firmware upgrade or App update broke this basic functionality. I was hoping that I could connect the devices and then re-hide the Wifi SSID. That worked but a power cycle test of the Floodlight V2 while the SSID was hidden showed that these cameras can no longer connect to a hidden SSID. Alfred pointed out that these two devices are the only devices that we have that use a Wifi floodlight_ap network during the connection phase of adding a new device. Kudos to Wyze support for being so great! But I sincerely hope that Wyze fixes this issue. Broadcasting Wiifi SSIDs is not something I am willing to do for long and if this persists we will be looking for other options.

Curious, how are you re-adding them to the app, while still installed outside? If the connection is marginal, then that same marginal connection is going to be problem, too, during the add

After keeping my floodlight off at the breaker for awhile, I made one final attempt and finally got it to reboot and get to the point where it says it’s ready to connect. I can confirm it will not work with a hidden SSID. By showing the SSID it will connect and remain connected for awhile, but then it eventually disconnects and the whole process needs repeated to get a connection again. My light was working fine for about 6 months, so this is a new bug in the firmware that needs to be fixed.

Thanks for reporting the results of your continued testing. I still haven’t gotten any updates back from Wyze since being told that the engineers would be looking into this, but I also imagine my contact has been busy with the new product launch. I have periodically provided updates when you and other users have shared firmware versions along with how using a non-broadcast SSID seems to be part of this issue.

If I don’t learn anything new by Monday, then I’ll try to remember to ask about any progress from Wyze’s side. Feel free to tag me if I get busy and don’t get back to this.

Very good information to know. I think I will wait for the software update to re-setup my V2 camera.

On June 15 my floodlight camera V2 with the Non-boradcasting SSID just started working again.

Thanks for taking the time to report that! I wonder if the experience will be the same for other users in this topic.

I haven’t yet seen an update from Wyze about this. Maybe I’ll give it a few more days and ask again.

This is still an issue. My floodlight loses connection with a non-broadcasting SSID ever since the latest firmware and we’ve basically quit using it at all. Today I reconnected by sharing the SSID and then hiding it and it worked for several hours before dropping connection again, and this happened twice more before I just gave up. I don’t know why bugs like this take so long to fix. I’m having a further issue with playback on my OG cams and it’s been months with other people reporting the same thing. The absolutely number one reason I can’t recommend Wyze cams is the frequency of new bugs being introduced and then persisting for months without fix.

Your timing is interesting. I also realized overnight my floodlight camera went offline for the first time since experiencing the same symptoms end of May. Had to broadcast my SSID again in order for the floodlight to start working again. It continues to work after turning the SSID broadcast off. Last time seemed to be caused by the newest firmware update but this time I’m not sure what triggered it as there hasn’t been a new firmware update.

Brother, it happened to me twice. Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 They are truly something that has no name. I did everything, reset it to factory settings and everything. The worst part is that the second Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 stopped working a week after I bought it.

I noticed yesterday that my floodlight v2 was offline for 7 days. Now I know to just broadcast the SSID then hide it again and the floodlight reconnects without any other intervention. My v3 cam on the same Wifi network remains connected at all times. This only seems like an issue since the latest floodlight v2 firmware installed. Is the issue with non-broadcasted SSIDs known to Wyze or should I open a case?

I would. I still haven’t received any direct follow-up from Wyze about this issue, so in your situation I’d advise replicating the issue, submitting a log, opening a ticket that describes the problem and includes the Log ID you generate, and also posting the description and Log ID to Firmware update - Released 5/22/2025 (if that is, indeed, the firmware version you’re currently using). I’m tracking that topic, too, and if I don’t see any response there for a few days I’ll try bugging someone at Wyze about this again to see about an update.

I already solved it, it’s a problem with a WPS PIN that comes activated by default on your gateway or commonly called router.

You have to enter your router on the web and go to gateway and then to connection and then below it says wps security something like that enter there and deactivate that and try to connect the camera from scratch And it worked, in my case it did using Xfinity internet
