I have been one of the many unfortunate people that have been unable to connect to any of my cameras while away from my home network. I am on xfinity internet, and was using the xb7 modem.
I walked into my local xfinity store and said I want to upgrade my modem to the xb8. He asked for my phone number to verify account and said I’ll be right back. He walked into back room and came back with the new modem. It was just that easy. Granted I am paying for 1 gig service so no questions asked. Came home and activated new modem and I now have full access to cameras when not on home network.
Thanks for sharing. For most others having this issue, if you are on a slower internet speed, you may need to convince them in other ways such as emphasizing that the XB7 has known compatibility issues with your current [Wyze] devices. It does seem like there is a little bit of variation depending on a rep’s subjective discretion or understanding of what they’re allowed to do. Some have swapped it out no questions asked, while others have been resistant to switching it out. If I had a rep tell me no, I would just try to get another one then potentially ask for a supervisor &/or retention because most reasonable reps should clearly understand if you present the issue as a compatibility problem.
