Fix-It Friday 8/4/2023

I noticed this morning after reviewing an event that occurred a few hours in the past, when I exit the viewed event, the list of events jumps ahead a number of hours instead of staying on the event that I viewed.

For example: event at 12:56 am, exit and it shows events at 6:06 am, even though there are at least 30 recorded event in between.

When 1st coming into the Wyze app version 2.44.1.1 for iOS or coming back into the iOS app after force-closing, tapping the Events tab icon results in a blank events list (no call to populate events list is made):

Issue does not exist under Wyze app version 2.44.1.326 (Android), issue is iOS version-only.

We sent out a hotfix for this earlier this week! If you’re running into this trouble, please check for an update. There is a small percentage of folks who may not have access to the update yet because we have to hold a small percentage of the release back to be able to halt a release if there are problems. We expect everyone to be able to get the update next week.

:thinking: Forum - Issue with ‘Turn off push notifications’ option, When using the setting ‘until I turn it back on’ it turns itself back on after 24 hours :thinking:

We are looking for logs for this submission. Could you please also check if you have any Rules set up that would affect notifications? Here are the log instructions in case you can help us dig into this issue:

Recreate the issue. Then in the Wyze app, go to Account > Wyze Support > Submit a Log. Select your device from the dropdown menu. Then fill in the description box with the date, time, and time zone of the most recent time you noticed this issue and a description of what’s happening. Make sure the Send Logs option is selected and then submit your log. When you have the log number, please post it here as a reply to me so I can get it to the right folks.

QA found some bugs with this firmware and the team is working on resolving them. We’ll send another build to QA when it’s ready.

We’ve been continuing to check logs and still aren’t able to figure out why this issue is happening for some folks. It looks like Rules are a functional workaround. If you’re affected by this, please try that method of control! We’re going to keep an eye out for more discussion on this one. It’s possible that our outcome here will be providing replacements as needed and recommending Rules if we aren’t able to identify a root cause.

We’re still looking into this issue. Could you please let us know if the devices affected are Wyze Cam v2 or if this is also happening on other cameras?

Through investigation with the reporter, it looks like this may be related to a forgotten Rule that was turning notifications back on. If this is affecting you, please check for Rules and let us know if you had one set for turning on notifications. If we don’t hear about different cases before the next update, we’ll remove this from the update list.

This is happening to all my cameras (V2, V3, OG). All my notifications are giving the wrong times in the notification itself. It appears to be an app/server-level issue.

All V3 and V3 Pro cams are not working correctly with the status light.
This has been mentioned in several beta release comments.
The red light is coming on when there is no event recording set at all.

According to WYZE’s own information, during normal operation, the red light should only come on only when an event is recording to the cloud, or when the camera is being viewed live.
It should not come on as it does now, when it sees motion, and no events are being recorded.

The last public (non-beta) firmware that works properly in this respect is 4.58.0.3210, back in Dec 22.

Cam V3 giving off double vibrations and or sounds for one notification card.

@WyzeJasonJ can we bump the pri on this one? It is affecting paying Cam Plus subscribers and the inability to filter by People only (to remove all the Wyze noise recordings) takes away a huge incentive to pay for the service. It affects Android but not iOS and was not a problem in v2.43.0.312, so it should help the team isolate. This has been broken for many weeks with no update on progress.

The breakage is that the Cam+ filters are not tappable. I had that filter selected when I downloaded the breaking build and the filter was stuck on. After reinstalling, the filter is now stuck off.

This is already a high priority for us, One of the issues is we have a hard time replicating it, it seems it does not affect everyone. I use Android with Cam Plus and can not replicate the issue. If you could are you able to make a video showing what is happening and submit a log?

For anyone experiencing this issue could you try something for me, please manually adjust your cellphones time zone to a different one and wait 10 minutes, Then change the time zone back and see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn’t please submit a new log and give me the log number. Thank you for your help.

Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically (uncheck)

I set my iPhone’s time zone to London, and my iPad began to receive notifications in London time.

When I manually set it back to EDT, my notifications show the correct time. I’ve unset the manual override and the notification time remains correct. :+1:

I’ve already submitted a log for this weeks ago and the reply I got was a generic “we are looking into it”. You can look up my most recent log. Feel free to use my account to repro, it’s consistent.

The test I was having people do is for a potential fix we have found. Some people are able to fix it by manually changing the phone time zone, waiting about 10 minutes and changing it back.

That test has nothing to do with the problem you and I are discussing. Timezone change seems to be for notifications being broken. How does that fix the problem I am pushing for?

So back to my last response - log already submitted weeks ago, is it being used? If you need a consistent repro, use my account on Android.

Hi @fred2028, I do not work for Wyze and do not have your issue, but just want to help if possible.

Earlier in this thread @WyzeJasonJ asked for a video showing the filter event issue.

I’m not sure if Wyze can log into any customer account to replicate an issue, so it seems the best they can do is to ask customers for info.

I’m highly doubtful the video will show any new useful information because in @WyzeJasonJ 's own words, this is a known issue and of high priority. But in the off chance this helps expedite the problem, screen-20230823-121215.mp4 - Google Drive

My prior questions to @WyzeJasonJ still stand

  • How does changing my timezone help here? I feel you are conflating 2 unrelated problems
  • My log is already submitted - has it been helpful?
  • I would not be surprised if Wyze can indeed login to customer accounts for debugging purposes. If they can, I am giving my permission for them to do so.

You are correct, I was mistaken and thought your reply was to the time zone issue, that is my mistake. Changing your time zone will not help your issue.

I cannot tell if your log has been helpful without knowing the log number, if you give me the log number I can send it up to the team to look at or verify it has been looked at.

We can’t log into anyone’s account even for debugging purposes or any other purposes.

We have been able to replicate this in the instance of Cam Plus Lite users but not Cam Plus users, a video shows us what the user is seeing and the exact steps they are taking. Having this along with the log helps us track issues down when we cannot replicate them.

Also how do I find the log numbers of the logs I’ve already submitted? It should be the last log I submitted.

In the app, go to account tab → Wyze support → Log History

It will have a list of all past logs there
