Firmware Updates - 12/3/2025

Hi, I’ve also rebooted the router and APs. They must have changed the wifi stack. Wyze cams tend have issues with mesh wifi and I’be been at this for many years with different setups and updates frequently break things and cause stability issues where there were none previously.…

I hear your pain and I still don’t understand why some people have issues and some don’t. Same cameras, same firmware and same app version. When those variables are the same the issue points to device (phone/tablet) and network environment (router/modem/ISP). Unfortunately no one but the user can troubleshoot those variables. I wish I could be more helpful.

First thing I did when I was running into this issue was to reboot my WIFI network. I currently have (7) Eero Pro 7 wifi mesh. I am a network engineer myself and I made sure it was NOT my end. All the Wyze cam v4 are all connected with a strong signal.

I also installed the wyze beta v 3.10.0 (4) with Test Flight and it has the same issues. So its definitely the firmware and I wish there was a way to roll back, but there isn’t. I have Wyze ticket 4728354 open with Wyze support and I have sent multiple log dumps from all my Wyze Cam v4

Well I bring on my own pain… Rather than waiting for others to have issues and wait for bugs to be ironed out with new releases I went ahead and updated all my cams..

Some more fun today in the same light, updated Home Assistant core to v.2026.1.0 and now my Zigbee2MQTT stuff is broken…

Luckily I don’t have the same practices at work.. lol.

FYI, I have an android tablet I use on my deskside to monitor cams and it’s broken too. I have an iPhone also and that’s where I first noticed the issues with v4 cams. Anyway mobile apps are likely not the issue.

Cheers!

You can flash it with a previous firmware version. I say that realizing that this is a potential pain in the posterior and may not always be practical, depending on how and where you have your Cams placed. It is a possibility, though.

I have two Asus ET12 and two XD5 in a mesh and also sure it’s not my network. Good to hear you were able to reproduce on the beta. Thanks for opening a ticket, that’s great!

For what it’s worth, I’ve also worked in the field for 28 years…

The Asus AIMesh is my third mesh setup and I’ve always had issues with IoT devices regardless. I try to stick to Z-wave and Zigbee where possible but of course stuff like cams…

Cheers!

I just pulled a old wyze cam v4 that I keep for backups incase if any of the wyze fail, i could swap them out immediately. the old wyze cam v4 had a firmware v4.52.9.4188 and it has no issues whatsoever with LIVE on the wyze app. it connected within seconds. Wyze please fix this issue!!!

I have 13 Wyze cams throughout my home (8-Cam v4s, 3-Cam Pan v3s, and 2-Cam Bulbs). They have been working flawlessly for a long time. Earlier this week, I received a notice to update my Cam v4s with 4.52.9.5332. It took a while to complete the update but when it was done, I immediately started having issues with the v4 cameras not connecting. The other cams are working fine. After rebooting all the v4 cameras, I was able to get some to connect for short periods of time, but not all cameras will connect. I tried on my phone, my tablet and on my wife’s phone, all with the same results.

I hope there’s a fix for this.

as i attempt to roll the firmware back from 4.52.9.5332 to 4.52.9.4188 with a microsd card. im running into issues now that all my 64gb and 256gb(all formatted to ex-fat fs) do not work. from my research it has to be a 32gb micro-sd card. really??!! now i have to go out and buy a 32gb to roll back the firmware?!! come’on now.

This has been my experience, and it’s frustrating when the easiest thing to grab at the time was a 256 GB exFAT card. The exFAT format appears to be a definite no-go, and even when I force a FAT32 format onto a larger card, I haven’t had success. All of my successful flashes so far have used 32 GB (because that’s the smallest I had conveniently available) cards formatted FAT32, though I’ve seen other community members report using cards as small as 512 MB for flashing.

I’ve also seen suggestions to partition larger cards into something smaller and then format the smaller primary partition to FAT32 for flashing, but I haven’t seen anyone actually report success with this. That’s something you could try before purchasing a smaller card to see if that works.

i have received my 32GB micro sd cards from amazon and successfully downgraded ALL (17) wyze cam v4 back to 4.52.9.4188 from 4.52.9.5332. All my LIVE camera are now functioning and connecting. what a fun weekend project?!! No.

Make sure you disable Automatic Update Firmware on the camera setting OR you’ll have to do this all over again.

Good day, I’m happy you were able to roll back but sounds like too much work for me at the moment. I’m not interested in getting the ladder out again in the middle of winter… I will keep my fingers crossed that a new firmware will be released sooner than later. In the meantime I’ve found that V4s at the top of the “Favorites” in the app tend to load consistently just run into issues with the fourth or fifth down the list and then the ones at the top start acting up if I scroll around too much…

Cheers,

I’ve done that wherever possible because of a firmware update for Video Doorbell v2 that broke notifications two years ago (later fixed in a subsequent update). I tend to watch replies to firmware release announcements here in the Forum (in both Wyze News and Beta, even though I don’t typically install β firmware) for a week or so before updating, just to see if there’s any indication of trouble. With this particular release (v4.52.9.5332 for Cam v4), I started seeing it offered to my Cams only a few days ago. I think v4.52.9.4188 became available to me only within the past couple of weeks, so I finally updated my Cam v4s to that from the previous version just last week.

I do appreciate how these releases have been gradual so that they’re not breaking as many Cams as possible, though that can lead to confusion when a community member describes having the “latest” firmware. Thank you for being explicit when referring to versions! :+1:

Would you see better behavior if you put your Cams in groups on your Favorites tab and/or if you disabled  Account ➜ App Settings ➜ Autoplay Video Live Streams ? That might be a way to reduce some problems while you’re awaiting the next firmware version. If it doesn’t help, then you can always change back to the way you’re doing things now.

Thanks for the advice, I tested that out and same results essentially. It seems like the first group of 4 cams loads fine but if I switch to another group of 4 then some cams don’t load.. It was worth a try. Thx.

Your issue sounds very similar to what I am experiencing on my V3’s with Beta FW version 4.36.16.5654. Might be the same bug

I can confirm this works. Just make sure only ONE partition on the card. I deleted all partitions on card, created a new PRIMARY partition with size < 32GB (leave the rest as free space), then format the partition as FAT32.

Also not sure if this make any difference, create the partition at the beginning of the card

Thanks for the confirmation. :+1:

Since posting my earlier comment, I’ve seen two other Forum members confirm doing this on 64 GB cards. Interestingly (to me, anyway), both reported using Rufus as their formatting tool of choice.

I just use Windows Disk Management. You can deallocate all space, repartition down to a single 32GB partition and format to FAT32 in a few seconds with no additional 3rd party tools.

That probably would’ve been my go-to if I needed to try it with Windows, as I also like using native tools when they’re available, and I’ve seen @dave27 suggest that. Although I’ve used Rufus for other things, I haven’t ever used it strictly for partitioning and formatting like some Forum members have recently described, so these suggestions appeal to me as another tool in the box.

On Linux, I’d probably be more likely to try something like GNOME Disks or GParted, depending on which was installed by default for whatever desktop environment I happen to be using.
