Facial recognition + Door lock

I have the palm lock, there is some door bell with facial recognition that interacts with this lock and opens?

I assume you are looking for a Doorbell which works with the Palm Lock?

If so, I use the Duo Doorbell which does interact with the Palm Lock. I have it setup to allow a tap on the lock when viewing the doorbell and unlock or lock the door.

However, I don’t use Facial recognition, but believe that works as well if you are using the correct Cam Plus / Cam Pro package.

@Crease @carverofchoice @R.Good Can either of you confirm the facial recognition for the Duo Doorbell?

I’m also using Palm Lock and Duo Cam Doorbell, but I don’t use Friendly Faces, so I can’t provide any meaningful feedback about that.

I just went and tested this using an automation between the duo cam doorbell and the palm lock.

I had to turn on facial recognition for the duo cam doorbell.

Friendly faces has two categories with two subcategories. There is a known faces category which you can split up between family and others, and there is an unknown faces category. Obviously I put my own face under family.

Then I set up an automation where the trigger or if condition was my front Duo. Cam doorbell detects a wes in the family category.
Then I set the action to unlock my front door Palm lock.

I went outside, locked the front door palm lock, and then put my face in front of the duo cam doorbell. Doorbell. As soon as it detected my face it unlocked the front door Palm lock.

Yes, totally works. It was slower than using the Palm detection though. I had to Wait a couple of seconds for the cloud AI to recognize that it was my face and then send trigger condition back to the Palm walk to unlock.

It is pretty cool though. I’m going to leave it turned on, and then I will only put faces in the family category of people who I want to be able to automatically unlock the door with their face. Anyone who I still want in the friendly faces recognition but who I don’t want to be able to unlock my door, I will just put in the others category.

But yeah, it totally works :+1: thanks for the idea. I’m going to keep this one
