Wyze cam v4 (4 months old) started not recording any events and showing as “offline”, even though it’s online. All firmware and software updates are current. I’ve reset camera and reformatted sd card multiple times.
Based on the symptoms I’d say wifi signal is most likely culprit. Does your router show the cam disconnecting from the wifi? Even if it hangs on to it, it may not be able to get enough bandwidth. Easiest way to confirm is temporarily move the cam closer to the router or the router closer to the cam.
Thanks for your reply. I updated to the latest firmware released yesterday, and the connection issue so far seems to be ok, but still not recording any events. Is it possible I’m just dealing with a bad micro sd card?
Are you trying to record just events to the SD card?, that seems like the waste of a good function (Continuous Recording) Set the cam for continuous record then check the cards progress after maybe 8 hours.
This cam is continuous, card was formatted 4 days ago.
I was assuming you meant events to the cloud, if you’re talking SD card, that may be a bit different.
- Need to make sure your settings are correct. Are you seeing “events” at all? Even if not recorded to the card, you should see an event logged. If not, then you need to review your settings and make sure you have it enabled and set to “tag” what you’re interested in, which will make it record and log an event.
- If you’re using Smart detections, it could still be a connection issue since it has to upload those to the cloud
- Yes it could be a bad SD card too. May want to try taking it out and formatting it with the formatter from sdcard.org (do a full overwrite format) to “refresh it” and possibly repair issues. Does the micro SD card show in the camera and does it show free/used space etc? Or is it not showing or giving an error?
I have it set for continuous recording. I have another wyze cam v4 and the setting for both cameras are exactly the same and both use the same manufacturer’s micro sd card. The other camera records events with no problem, but not so with this one.
Thanks. I’m trying with the formatting suggestion to see if that corrects anything.
I have Samsung Pro Endurance SD cards I purchased years ago. The 128GB cards were about $13-17 US.
The 256GB cards I have were in the $21 -$29 range, now $75-$153 range. The 128GB cards are supposed to last 7 years and the 256GB cards 14 years. I hope so !!! Good luck finding a good SD that doesn’t cost you big
or your first born child.

Reformatting via the sdcard.org formatter seems to have done the trick. So far, so good ![]()
Thanks!
