Event Recording Motion button turns off after an automation

Hi, There are no Events showing overnight, even though my cats are very active. I have automations setup for my 4 cameras, I also have Cam-plus. Every day, when I go back in and check the settings, the Motion button is off (under Event Recording). As a test, I’ve deleted the automations, turned the cameras on manually over night and then checked the event / motion button and it is still on the next day. I entered new automations to turn the cameras and Motion on/off each day and the Motion button is off again the next day. Is there any fix?

Welcome to the Forum, @k.whittenburg!

I believe that’s because of the way you’ve constructed your Schedule type Automation. You’ve specified an end time, so the parenthetical part of the “Turn on motion detection” takes effect: “(Turn off motion detection at End Time)”. I imagine that if you checked your Cam OGs’ Event Recording screens at 6:59 a.m., you’d probably see Motion still toggled on.

In your situation, I would try removing the “Turn on motion detection” Actions from your cameras’ Automations, leave everything else as is, and then see what happens. I think that Action is probably unnecessary and causing the behavior you’re seeing.

Thank you for sharing such excellent screenshots! That and the description of what you’re experiencing and the testing you’ve done is really helpful. :+1:

Good Morning, I did as you stated (unchecked Turn on Motion Detection)

and checked the next morning and the Motion button was still on after the automation completed. I really appreciate your help. Take care
