Doorbell v2 won't write to SD card

The doorbell v2 just isn’t measuring up. If I want to sit and watch my phone all day to see who comes to my door, it works fine showing me a live view. However, it repeatedly does not write any ‘event’ to the SD card in the doorbell camera. Most of the monitoring options are ONLY for paid subscription - which is really ridiculous since the capability is there for it to write to the SD card, but Wyze has decided to limit what the camera can do in favor of a subscription model. Oh, just pay us $2.99 and we’ll enable ALL the capabilities. 5 or 6 years ago I purchased 4 cameras to use as security and it worked great, yes great. The camera’s would actually notify me of events and write the event to the SD card. No subscription fees. I might (and am heavily considering moving to SimpliSafe) purchase some cameras and try that model and give up on the doorbell option - but with all the poor reviews and problems - I’m not sure its worth my time and money. I’m past the 30 day return option or I’d do that and move on - just frustrating.

I’m curious about how you have your microSD recording options set, if your card is potentially problematic, and what specific troubleshooting steps you’ve taken. I’m currently using Battery Video Doorbell but originally bought Video Doorbell v2 a couple of years ago because it was a wired option that allowed me to continue to use my home’s mechanical chime and had the capability to continuously record locally to microSD. That’s how I used it for over a year before I ever tried any subscriptions.

There’s something else going on, to the best of my knowledge as a user, Wyze does not charge for SD capabilities, whether recording continuous or event clips, without a subscription.

Wyze Cloud $2.99 subscription is for smart detections ie; Cam Plus and Cam Unlimited. Person, pet, vehicle etc. etc.

Check your record to SD settings, Reboot your WiFi. Try a different SD, format it in the device.

Download a Network Analyzer, Wyze has one on the play store if Android, Wyze WiFi Analyzer, for just checking signal strength at the camera.

Try Wyze online help, whatever its called, Wyze cams have a year warranty, if its defective, they’ll swap it out.

I’m a former Simplijunk customer, they’re only, and all about subscriptions. $1600 bucks+ wasted. No SD. Can’t cancel online, must call their retention dept. etc. etc. etc..read their forum.

No subscription? Live view only, arm and disarm only. Even with a subscription SS is pathetic. My sensors still work, for what that’s worth.

And thats why I now use, Home Assistant, Wyze and or Reolink camera products now. Lived and learned at my own expense.
