All cameras need to connect to Wi-Fi, so you would need a hotspot or cellular modem that will act as the router. The cameras cannot connect directly to 5G cellular.

The reason I’m asking is because I have two cams v3 and it appears that the app cannot connect cameras over the 5g cellular when I’m away home. Having said that I can only view the live cameras only I’m home using a wifi.
If I’ve understood what you mentioned, any wyze camera does not support 5G. correct?

I have nine Wyze cameras in my home and they are completely unusable because I am unable to view my cameras while away. This is the new event just started recently. How come this is still going on I’ve paid a lot of money for my cameras. I’ve tried all of the suggested fixes yet nothing works. My cameras are useless. We have them so we can monitor the home …

Yet another person who is confusing 5th generation ( 5G ) cellular and 5 GigaHertz ( 5 GHz ) WiFi. There is absolutely zero relationship between the two. WiFi operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and recently 6 GHz. Whereas cellular has progressed through different generations of technology. That started with Advanced Mobile Phone service (AMPS), then 2nd Generation (2G), then 3rd generation (3G), then 4th generation (4G), and now 5th generation (5G). There are some other abbreviations in there at the different generations, but that is well outside the scope of this discussion.
The Wyze cameras operated exclusively via WiFi and with one or two exceptions only using the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Once your camera connects to your WiFi and from there to the Internet, is the end of the camera dependency. Whether your phone is using your WiFi, your cellular data, or some other WiFi SHOULD not make any difference. However, with that said, some people have had problems connecting to their cameras when they are outside of their WiFi. In MOST of these cases, the issue has been traced to either using a VPN or some setting (usually security) in their router that is blocking the connection. A bunch of people in the past few months have run into this if they are using Xfinity as an ISP. Apparently there is a hardware of software change with Xfinity that seems to be a common (but not the only) thread. In that situation the problem is with Xfinity and likely Wyze can not fix it - Xfinity has to. The link in WildBills post is to that rather long thread.

What they meant to ask is, “Do Wyze cams support remote access via the Wyze app using 5G cellular service on my phone?”. That would be a yes, but there is an ongoing issue for some.

It would be cool if Wyze could set up a public cam and share it out to the world. or at least to people with these issues.

If they connect to the public cam, a lot of questions would be resolved.

Rigged?

If a patch broke it? I hope someone will spot it straight away.

The question is INCORRECT. Wyze cams do not connect to ANY cellular network (5G or not) since they are NOT PHONES.

Wyze Cams are usually installed stationary inside/outside a house/apartment, connected to a home WIFI and can be accessed (watched) through Wyze app on your phone. Your phone can be connected to same home WIFI or NOT (cellular 3G, 4G, 5G or another WIFI spot). In fact, your phone can be anywhere in the world.

As long as your home WIFI and your phone (5G or not) BOTH have access to fast INTERNET you should have access to your cameras through your WYZE app.

NOW. If your question is about two types of home WIFI 2.4 GHz or 5GHz, your WIFI router should be able to broadcast BOTH at the same time. So this shouldn’t be a problem at all. If it’s not - fix it in the router settings to broadcast both or buy one that does that automatically depending on the device connected. A lot of SMART devices (bulbs, plugs, etc support 2.4GHz connections only, so newer WIFI routers are best as they are flexible to accommodate all smart devices without the need to adjust settings and also have newest (fastest) 6GHz connection available too. 2.4Ghz WIFI has a speed limit of 100 Mbps. Wyze cam v4 is 2k camera and uses speeds up to 30 Mbps for a full-quality picture - which is plenty even on a 2.4GHz WIFI connection. And, apparently,
Wyze cam v4 supports only 2.4GHz WIFI connections, but supports WIFI 6 routers.

Hope it helped clear things for you.

If you are live streaming Cam v4 locally over a 5 GHz channel via your phone/tablet, that path is:

Cam v4 ~ (2.4 GHz) ~ router ~ (5 GHz) ~ phone/tablet

Definitely confusing. 👍 But Wyze is simply conveying that if you have a Wi-Fi 6 router, Cam v4 (and all other cam models) will work fine (over 2.4 GHz).

Maybe OP already considers this answered, but just in case…
I can watch my V3 cameras from my phone connected to a 5G cellular network. The V3 cameras are connected to the 2.4 GHz WiFi network of my home’s router.
As far as I know, all Wyze’s products can only be connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network (not to a 5 GHz WiFi , for example).
You can watch your cameras from a phone connected to Wifi (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, …) or to any cellular network (GSM -3G-, LTE -4G-, or 5G).
