Device is off-line

I have the solar camera that will not stay connected to my Internet. I have went through support and done everything that they suggest and it’s still disconnects. I split my Wi-Fi network and created an entirely new network that was 2.4 GHz only and connected the camera. I woke up this morning it was off-line. I had to restart my gateway for it to reconnect. It worked fine all morning, but disconnected this afternoon.

Any ideas? I really want this to work

Since only a gateway restart brings it back, I would look at the router side more than the camera. On the 2.4 GHz network try WPA2 only (no WPA3 or mixed mode), 20 MHz channel width, and a fixed channel of 1, 6 or 11 instead of auto, then give the camera a DHCP reservation. Also check the signal in the camera’s Device Info in the app. If it reads worse than roughly -70 dBm, an outdoor camera will drop like this, and a closer access point or extender is the real fix.

Thank you! I changed it to WPA2 only, but I couldn’t find any of the other settings. I did check the signal strength and it is -42 dBm.

The 1/6/11 thing doesn’t really apply anymore, unless it is an environment you have total control over with no other networks around. An overlapping channel may very well have more bandwidth and/or less noise than one of those. Unless you have the equipment to do a true RF spectrum scan (just looking at what networks are around with an SSID scanner isn’t enough) I’d just let the router pick the channel.

Some ISPs are heavily locking down their routers now so you can’t change things. It could just be a dying router too. Most give out an IP once per day, and if the internal DHCP server freezes up (often one of the first things to start crashing) then that can cause things like this. But look around the settings again as locking 2.4ghz at 20mhz width helps with a lot of IOT devices.

The router is fairly new and nothing else has trouble connecting - laptop, phone, Bosch dishwasher, Samsung fridge, Rectec grill and 2 fire sticks. The camera is fairly close to the main gateway

maybe it will work now

Splitting the networks should have disabled any band steering that the router may have, which is good since that can be problematic. Disabling WPA3 is definitely a good idea, but usually that would prevent them from connecting at all, not intermittent disconnects (though anything is possible). The big one is often locking the channel to 20mhz, that can cause intermittent issues, when a 40mhz capable device is in range, the router switches to try and support both, and some 20mhz only devices will have an issue with that. I guess see how it goes with WPA3 disabled.

Also worth noting that newer routers (Wifi 6 and 7) have made changes to 2.4ghz. Usually there is no issue with backwards compatibility to older devices, but if your router allows it and you continue to have problems, may want to try locking the 2.4ghz band to a maximum of “N”. Every router is different but it may have an “N only”, or “G/N”. Avoid B/G/N if possible, B is useless these days and having it enabled can slow stuff down, but not a big deal if that’s all it has.

Many of those devices you mention support 5ghz so they probably wouldn’t have issues. Not sure about the dishwasher, fridge, or grill, those may be 2.4 only.

Our wyze cam v4s have crazy problems not connecting.

It may be because they are plugged into the aux port on the floodlight cam and might be under powered…

I just turned of some network features such as wpa3 and the steering… We have to unplug the cameras and plug them back in and they work for a few hours then stop.

Comcast is the ISP.

The cameras show events in the timeline but wont live connect and show offline. Did all the firmware updates. Will not be buying v4 cameras, would have bought more v3 but they stopped selling them.

I have had severe problems with another house that had

I had an issue with mine connecting. It appears it was caused by the SD cards I installed. Removed them and all is good so far.

Glad it fixed your problem. However, I do not have an SD card installed on mine.
