Can’t say for certain, but the concept mentioned in [SB709] [Jun 2021] about the zone going from old “box” to “tiles” caught my eye. I am having this issue on myV3 of it detecting motion outside of the “tiles”. As an experiment, I removed the second box that was a bit higher and to the right of another box… and I don’t get bad detections where there is no box. So my suspicion is that when the overall shape is not a box, it builds a bounding box around all “tiles” and detects using that. In other words, they cut corners. It did seem to work when I had CamPlus on that camera, but then started messing up when I moved that to a new V4. Could be that CamPlus sends the detection to Wyze and they crop it correctly before registering the detection so it works then, but not without it (with CamLite). Anyone coming here to see about a fix may try the same experiment and report what they observe.
The issue they fixed on the OG was that the green box (whether you had it enabled or not) was going into the detection zone if the motion was near it and thus causing a detection. They seem to have improved that behavior on the OGs. I don’t use DZ on my other cams (Panv3s) so not sure how well those do/don’t work.
Since they fixed the issue with the OG (and before the issue started) I can set pretty precise zones and don’t get alerts from stuff right near it.
