Cat night at Weeds &Water

MFP was managing his business for a while but then he wandered off. In addition to this black cat and orange cat there was also the small gray and white cat, Socks (The black cat with long white socks) and a black and white cat. :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:.
There was also one regular :raccoon:

So who is the all black cat?

Gris-Gris (pronounced Gree-gree) A voodoo talisman giving protection
Marais (mah-ray) = “Swamp” since he’s stealthy, smooth and low to the ground?
Garde?
Baron?
Midnight?
Sentinel?
Hashashin?

The way it was walking when the orange cat showed up I would say Ninja.

That’s funny. I actually first typed out that you should name him Ninja, and then I erased that and tried to think of some more Cajun-esque names like you often try to do for some of your animal visitors. But Ninja was the first name that came to my mind as well.

I named the critters , (mostly the possums ) after my Belgian Ancestors. They were from a French Speaking Province in Wallonia.

I like that one. A friend who’s originally from Mississippi used to use that one conversationally, much like how some people will mention “bad juju”.

I thought you have Dutch ancestry

I do have Dutch Ancestry. My 4th Great grandfather was a soldier, born 17 Jan.1762 in Namur, Belgium. His family has lived in Namur since at least 1558,
He got stationed in the Netherlands and married my 4th Great grandmother on 1 Jan 1786 in Sluis, Zeeland, Netherlands. My Grandmother ( from my mother’s family) was born in Rotterdam. It’s a long complicated story spanning over 400 years.
1786 Marriage record: Written in French:

MFP has been out stirring up new business, three new freeloader cats arrived at the same time .

Ancestry is fascinating to me. Thanks for sharing!

I had to stop with the Belgians because I couldn’t find any actual record documents older than 1587, I only made it to 1641 with the Dutch. The old churches kept good records of baptisms, births, marriages and deaths. I got over 5,000 records using a variety of free web sites in Belgium and the Netherlands. Record documents may also be found on familysearch.org since they are the group (LDS Church) that has copied the records to film.

Oh wow, you have a full on cult of cats going on now.

Yeah when three start coming totgether, :face_holding_back_tears: MFP has a big mouth.

Aw
 They’re youngsters

equals hooligans

Tell me that watching the energetic hooligans prance around and jump isn’t much more entertaining than the old cats that are mostly docile.

I mean, he’s pretty majestic and all in his fancy tuxedo
but he’s not entertaining to watch move around most of the time

You should try watching him drink water for 3 minutes and 25 seconds.
