Can the WiFi be fully disable on Lock Bolt v2?

First of all, I really like the Lock Bolt v1 for being a non‑IoT solution. I don’t want or need Internet connectivity for my use case, and I’m perfectly happy to copy and paste a temporary access code for family or friends when needed.

With that said, it’s nice to see that v2 incorporates a physical key as an additional way to lock and unlock the door. I installed one yesterday, and honestly, the new unit looks quite sleek and modern. However, I haven’t been able to figure out whether it’s possible to completely disable Wi‑Fi on the v2. I’m hoping to do this to minimize the attack surface and potentially reduce power consumption so the battery doesn’t need to be replaced as often.

I’ve considered a workaround: setting up a temporary Wi‑Fi network just to complete the initial setup and update the firmware, and then taking that network offline afterward. My question is, would the lock end up draining more battery by continually searching for an SSID that no longer exists?

I had the same question when I was looking into the Lock Bolt v2. I like the idea of having the physical key as a backup, but I can also understand wanting to keep the lock completely offline.

The temporary Wi-Fi idea seems like a reasonable approach for setup and firmware updates, but I’d be curious whether the lock continues scanning for a network afterward and how much that actually affects battery life.

Hopefully someone who has tested this can confirm whether Wi-Fi can be disabled completely through the app or another setting. That would definitely be useful to know for people who prefer keeping smart locks offline.
