Any way I can use the solar panels on the pan and tilt on the 4k model
You’d need to combine the solar panel with a USB battery bank that supports pass through charging, and even then may need to charge the battery bank manually from time to time. The battery bank will need to be able to put out 2 amps of current.
Long story short, no, it isn’t designed for it, but it can be hacked together as long as you’re aware of the limitations.
Another possibility is a solar panel with a built high capacity mah battery. The battery is kept charged by the sun and panel circuitry and provides the power to operate the cam. Several are available on Amazon and reasonably priced for their intended purpose. Voltage and amperage varies as does the price beyond 5v/1a.
Yeah, I just hate that the no name brands use really lousy lithium cells typically, and the ones I had seen can’t be manually recharged, so you’d end up having to leave the camera off for it to be able to charge up the pack. Someone will have to be a guinea pig and test one out at some point.
I saw a couple panels that have manual battery recharging ability with a charging port. As I recall, the batteries were in the 4-6000mah range and panel output was 3-5w/5v. Otherwise, the sun and conversion circuitry of the panel should keep the battery fully charged if placed in optimum position for sunlight.
I’ll consider myself a guinea pig since I have 2 in use now and the batteries are staying charged from the sun.
Just to clarify, the cams are not the subject 4k pan-tilt of this thread.
Yeah would have to find one that supports 2A/10 watt output. Might be able to get by with a bit less but 5W almost definitely won’t cut it with that cam. If it is set to motion tracking or pan/scan it would likely eat through the battery a lot faster than a stationary cam too so probably larger size battery needed also.
