I’ve got a setup with two outside cameras looking at one side of my house. It’s a long enough distance that their views don’t overlap.
What I would like to do is tell the Driveway camera to look right if the Front Door camera detects motion. I looked at the Wyze app’s Rules - Device Triggers, but it seems that I can only trigger a camera to do very basic things, like turn a camera or some features on/off, and other basics, but nothing like changing viewing direction.
You didn’t specify which cameras you’re using, but the context indicates you’re likely referring to a Cam Pan model of some kind (I’m guessing v3 since you’re using it outdoors and it’s rated for that, though I’ve read of people using earlier models outdoors despite not being rated for such use), and it seems like you want to be able to trigger the camera to view a certain waypoint.
As far as I know, this is not currently possible; however, such a feature has been suggested/requested in this topic:
I have no idea if or when Wyze might implement some of the ideas in that topic, but it can’t hurt to add your thoughts and vote there.
Thanks. It’s not a big enough issue for me to get another camera - I just thought it would be a nifty thing to do.
I hear you about not pointing in the right direction, though, I’ve got two Cam Pan V3’s that seem to be keeping their directions well, but a couple Cam Pans need to be reset a couple times per week because they lose their way.
Thanks. Yeah, I guess it would have been better to mention the cameras I’m using. These are the original Cam Pans. They are outside, but well protected under a roof and well back from the roof edge, plus they each have a silicone weather cover (from Amazon).
Anyway, I’ll check out that link and give a vote for it,
