Cams are offline

Hello,
Changed ISP five days ago, and cameras OG and V3 now show offline. Attempted, followed many instructions, and failed to go online. Plan to remove (delete) cameras and start from scratch; they should pick up the new ISP’s wifi signal. Does this sound about right?

If you are using a new ISP and are using a different network name and password you will have to set your cams up again or use the same network name and password that you originally set them upon.

Do not delete you cams from the app. It is unnecessary and you will loose the cam settings.

If you do have to use a network with a different SSID & PW, just tap the setup button on the cam and run a setup routine in the app as though you were installing it new. That saves all your settings and history on the cam. Deleting wipes everything out.

Antonius and SlabSlayer, my thanks to both of you,

Tried again to setup without deleting and failed. Deleted one OG and went through the setup again; If I can get one online, the others should be easy. The cam does not pair.

Bluetooth, wifi, and location are on. Following the guide. Deleting all settings on the OG is not an issue. Have not touched the other cams, they are still offline. At worse will try the other OG: easier to move around. Further suggestions are welcome.

Merci beaucoup,

  • If you have a split network with the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands separate, both with unique SSID, connect the phone with the 2.4Ghz.
  • When you install, place your phone in Airplane mode or disable the cellular data to keep the phone locked into the 2.4GHz.
  • Disable the 5GHz on the router while installing.

SlabSayer, Thanks again. Will advise when the cam is online.

I copy that. Thanks.

Copy that. Thanks Antinius.

Awesome! Glad you found a solution! It is difficult to troubleshoot new router issues since there are only about a gazillion possibilities with their configuration.

Glad to hear you are back in business but you should tell others how you fixed your issue. I am sure someone else will have the same issue.

Good point. Thanks!

Attempted to go online for two days with a cam believed to be an OG, and failed miserably. Depending on how important your cam settings are, deleting the cam may not be a major issue; my settings are basic.

Checked to make sure the wi-fi was not on 5G, and turned-on Bluetooth. Logged-on to Wyze, again, and followed the Setup guide. Remember all of my cams, two x OG and two x v3 were offline due to a change of ISP. They are all back on.

Follow the guide:

  1. Download the Wyze app and sign-in or make an account;
  2. Power up the cam, a red light will show (it will not flash) and will turn off;
  3. Press the SETUP button (bottom of the cam), it will start to flash red, and shortly say, “Ready to connect”; follow the on-screen directions. Make sure your new ISP is selected, you will need your ISP’s password. Scan the barcode; keep the cam stationary above the code, five to six inches. The cam will inform you the scan is complete. A few more tidbits of info and you are online.

My Fireteam will laugh, I am red-faced: ensure the cam you are trying to go online with, is what it is, and not what you think it is: It was v3, and not an OG. SlabSayer and Antonius made me think outside the box (my thanks again).
