Cam Pan V1 works perfectly until its using the tp-link TL-WR1512X travel router. After about 30-40 minutes, the camera ‘fast’ flashes blue led and I can no longer monitor video feed from the app. All other connectivity from the app to the camera appears normal - i.e., it detects motion and sound events, I can view it’s properties from the app, and I can turn it off from the app. In fact, toggling it off/on from the app, restores the video feed capability. It will however fail again in 30-40 minutes. Something in the connectivity between the camera and its ‘video’ cloud servers timesout in some kind of way.

Wyze AI support wrote the following (below). Does this sound plausible anyone. It sounds plausible to me, unfortunately, it appears these are not settings on the TP-WR1512X.

Since the camera can send alerts and be toggled from the app, it maintains a general connection to Wyze servers.
The issue specifically occurs when initiating a new video stream after ~30 minutes of idle time—not during an active stream.
Once the stream starts, it works flawlessly, indicating the data path and bandwidth are sufficient.
Most Likely Culprit:
NAT Timeout:
If the NAT timeout is set too low, the router may drop the idle connection between the camera and the video streaming server after a period of inactivity. When you try to start a new stream, the connection is no longer valid, causing the failure. Toggling the camera off/on re-establishes the connection, allowing streaming again.
Client Isolation:
This setting prevents devices on the same network from communicating directly. However, since the camera communicates with Wyze servers (not directly with your phone), client isolation is less likely to be the cause unless your app and camera need to communicate locally for streaming.
Recommendation:
Increase the NAT timeout value on your router to ensure idle connections are maintained longer.
Double-check client isolation settings, but focus primarily on NAT timeout.
Not familiar with this travel router. Can the security protocol be set? If so, make sure it is set to WPS-2. Wyze not up to WPS-3 for cams, especially early models like what you have.
It is WPA2. The configuration works fine for about 30 minutes. Then something times out - some long-lived connection by the camera that tplink drops from what I understand. Tp-link support engineer is looking at the problem now - we shall see. lol. Thanks for reply.
Glad you picked up on my incorrect stating of WPS rather than WPA. Good luck with TP Link support. I don’t know how I slipped auto network connection protocol (WPS) acronym into security (WPA). Can’t say it was a Freudian slip .

Yes, that sounds plausible. Since alerts and app controls still work, the camera is not fully disconnecting. It seems more like the video stream path is timing out after being idle. NAT timeout or a router power-saving/session handling issue could be the reason, especially because toggling the camera off/on immediately restores the stream.
If the TP-Link router does not expose NAT timeout settings, I would try updating firmware, disabling any power-saving/client isolation features, testing 2.4GHz only, assigning a static IP to the camera, or testing another router to confirm if the travel router is the cause.
Thanks for the reply and advice. No NAT timeout settings in the GUI, The firmware is up to date. ECO mode is off (‘Boost’ mode is on). It’s all 2.4ghz. Camera has static IP. Does not fail with another router or direct connect.
The 40 minute time-to-failure is pretty consistent, so it’s some kind of timeout. I did a full 40 minute pcap and sent it to tp-link, Hopefully they’ll be directed to the source of the problem or expose some non-gui NAT settings for me.
In the meantime, when i want to view the video, i toggle the camera off/on and i’m good for 40 minutes. lol. Could be worse.
