Can the software designers PLEASE fix a long standing issue…and a new one. Also, clip reviews still needs major improvement
When viewing camera horizontally, especially from an iPad, please add the Setting Wheel. IOW, if we are viewing a camera vertically, Settings is in the upper right corner. But, if viewing horizontal, wheel is gone. And on this similar theme, the main interface desparetly needs to support iPad (or phone) in landscape mode. Wyze app is so frustrating to use in how we are constantly having to rotate vertical to horizontal. Argggggh!
Restore the IR camera setting from the overlay while view a camera. A recent version has removed the ability to cycle through Auto/On/Off…and we now have to go back to the settings.
Reviews of videos is still, all these years later, FRUSTRATING! Moving from clip to clip needs to be easier. When there is no video for a span of time, it should not be a problem. Should be able to move from one clip to the next.
And, while I am requesting UI stuff…it would be nice if the buttons on camera mode could be made transparent or non-transparent. The icons are constantly getting lost on light or dark backgrounds.
Thanks for listening! And if I am missing something on these, please let me know.
I know landscape mode (and full dark mode for the app, for that matter) has been requested repeatedly over the years, but I don’t know what the status of either request is. Suggestions for improving video playback and review are also longstanding. I don’t know what the likelihood is that someone from Wyze will see a new topic like this, so you might get better visibility for your concerns by searching existing Wishlist topics that are relevant to what you’re requesting and then voting and commenting in those topics.
Regarding your second point, I imagine you’re describing the experience on Cam v3, and I think that’s unlikely to return, because they’ve said they’re trying to make the UI more uniform across Cams (so they’re updating Cam v3’s UI to match that of newer releases). While they didn’t specifically mention that change when they posted about Recent App UI Changes, that missing night vision mode toggle is something that a lot of users have complained about. Apparently it’s still possible to select Timelapse from the icon strip below the live view pane and toggle the mode there without going deeper into Settings, so some people use that as a work-around.
Your fourth point relates to one of my major beefs and something I’ve said numerous times: They need to increase and improve their use of visual contrast throughout the app, particularly with specific elements. Some on-screen text blends in too easily (I mentioned this in the topic I linked above), and if you have a Cam looking at a place that’s bright in the sunshine, then the on-screen controls are completely lost in the washed-out view because they’re not using any kind of contrasting background for the elements. Rather than a “transparent or non-transparent” choice (I’m not sure what you mean by this without more detail), I’ve argued that they should do something similar to what a lot of TV/streaming providers do with closed caption options: Give the on-screen element a contrasting semi-transparent background. That way even if you have white on-screen controls and the camera is looking at a light-colored driveway on a sunny day, the controls will be visible because of that elemental background layer essentially giving them visual outlines.
Hello. Thanks for the reply. I just realized why I thought they just changed the IR setting…because I still see it occasionally on some of the older cameras. I have about 25-30 cameras in use including a few v1 and v2 still.
As for the transparent non-transparent comment, I am just saying some user control would be nice. I get that some people will not want the icons to show. They could simply allow a user setting to control the screen icons.
For as much as I have invested in Wyze, I sure wish they would fix the horizontal UI.
I got some new chickens and have been wrestling with a few cameras that I use to keep an eye on them…bringing back up long standing frustrations.
Yeah, that totally makes sense. The oldest Cam I have is a Cam Pan v3, so I’ve never actually owned anything that uses the older UI. I suspect that they’re trying to get Cam v3 up to date to match newer Cams’ UIs and deliver a more consistent UX going forward, especially since that one (along with newer Cams) was updated with VerifiedView in the firmware and they’ve been putting out messaging for users to update the app.
That makes more sense. As long as adding something like that doesn’t overcomplicate the situation and introduce bugs, I’m all for giving users more choice. I think the easier thing to implement more uniformly (rather than coding a new control for users to tinker with) would be just to add contrast to the existing elements. That would be a huge usability improvement if they’d just devote the resources to getting it done, I think.
Although I don’t use landscape mode much, and I don’t find it much of an inconvenience to rotate my phone in live view, I understand that a lot of people like to monitor their users on mounted tablets, and if the tablet is mounted in landscape orientation, I can imagine trying to use the app would be a huge exercise in frustration. They should definitely fix that (and add real dark mode throughout).
I understand the longstanding frustrations. I have a few, clearly. I also hope that what you have still allows you to monitor your chickens, which reminds me of the last time I was in a chicken coop (without chickens).
