Cam V4 video quality can not be set manually

The video quality cannot be manually set on V4 camera or V2 doorbells. The system automatically sets the video quality based on the network speed and load. That works well except for cases when you have data caps. With a data cap, you have to downgrade the video on some cameras to ensure you stay below the cap and have full video quality on critical cameras.

Are you talking about the video quality that you see in the live view? That can be adjusted in the upper left of the live view.

I agree with @WyzeJasonJ

If you manually set it (upper left corner of live view) it will stay at that resolution. This area has seen some changes especially with the new Cam Pan v4 and it’s auto setting.

Just now I double checked my v2 doorbell and the setting persists across an app restart and a phone restart. Before I would trust it implicitly I would test it over an extended period of time.

I also double checked a v4 and it persists across an app restart. Still need to test a phone restart.

I should add that I seem to have more trouble connecting to remote cameras when the closer cameras are set to high camera resolution. The only reason I can think that this would happen would be network traffic.

I have restarted the phone, the cameras, reloaded the phone app and the network. I confirmed then with Wyze auto picture quality only is a new “feature” with V4 cameras.

My v4 doesn’t do the auto thing, are you on beta firmware or app? I heard it was implemented there but does not seem to be in the main line yet. The Panv4 does have it, but not the regular, at least not mine, which is up to date.

I have not seen “auto” on the regular V4. Yes, it is on the Cam Pan v4. I’m seeing some minor issues with it. It seems to be to aggressive on 4K at the expense of smoothness (especially when panning). Still testing and have not drawn any conclusions.

I believe I have seen it a couple of times on the Battery Cam Pro but I wouldn’t swear by it (I think I’m on beta). If it is there it does not persist like it does with the Cam Pan V4.
