Hallo Wyze,
I read your company policy but I am not convinced
In the early days it was the Dafang camera with the T20 and it was - sort of - “open” to the users. Not for the average app user but rather the tech guys and DIY scene. It was somehow simple to have a decent hardware camera and tweak it for the users needs. It was fun.
But with every update in software and hardware the options for “the users” got fewer and fewer and the system got closed more and more. Today Wyze cams are still nice products for the price but for all the users that want to have more the product was lost. Too bad.
You lost many users (customers), me too. I decided to look for something else which gives me more freedom to use a product the way I wanted. Again, the Wyze cams are neat and I wish there would be an option to show the company spirit: “Be Friends With Users”.
Open the system up to let the “interested” user have a wider playground. Make a hint that if you want to cross this line, you are on your own, lose warranty and so on. Let it happen, it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t decrease sales. On the contrary - it will attract those users/customers that want to do more with the device than just click a button in an app. And these users will bring ideas for future development and make the product even more attractive - also for the average app customer.
So, yes, please, “Be Friends With Users” - make the system more open!
Just wanted to share my thoughts why I didn’t buy an Wyze cams after the early days…
Have a nice day!
