Battery Video Doorbell Network Connection

Has anyone had any issue connecting a Battery Video Doorbell? I had one that stopped recording videos or notifying that the button was pressed. I also noticed I was unable to update the firmware so I figured I’d factory reset it and re-add it. Big mistake as now I’m unable to connect it to WiFi. No matter what network I select it will say “Connection Successful” then immediately followed by “Network Connection Timed Out.” Since this is a battery device I haven’t been able to power cycle it other than holding the setup button down and waiting until it factory resets. Does anyone have any other troubleshooting steps to try or am I just SOL with this device?

Welcome to the Forum, @curt137!

Since, as you mentioned, this is a battery-powered device, I’d be inclined to take it to whatever room has your main Wi-Fi source and attempt setup there. You may also wish to temporarily disable any 5 GHz and/or 6 GHz radios on your LAN and turn off your phone’s use of mobile data while attempting Battery Video Doorbell setup. If you can get to the in-app setup step where you would normally name your device, then you should be able to abort setup then and have the device adopt the same settings and name it was using before.

I’d try doing that after single-pressing the SETUP button. If that doesn’t work, then I’d try it again after a factory reset.

If your gateway/router/Wi-Fi source uses mixed-mode WPA2/WPA3 for security, then you probably also want to try switching that to WPA2 only, as some mixed-mode implementations can be problematic.

Tried that and same results. I’ve also tried just connecting to my phone’s hotspot with the same results.

What has Wyze Support said when you contacted them? I’d be inclined to submit an app log and then open a ticket referencing that log.

I know when I’ve had connectivity issues in the past, the two things I’ve done that seemed to improve the situation were forcing my phone onto 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi when re-adding Battery Video Doorbell to the app and turning off WPA3 security on the Wi-Fi gateway and access point I was using at the time.

If you can get your Battery Video Doorbell reconnected, then you probably want to ensure that its firmware is current, because since that product’s launch some updates have been released that are supposed to improve connectivity. You may already be current with that, but you didn’t mention that in your previous posts, so I don’t want to overlook that.

I’d definitely contact Support, though. If the device itself is the problem in this case, then you should be well within the replacement window.
