One thing I would like would be for Alexa or google to be able to announce the battery level of my video doorbell pro. This would be so much easier than having to check the stream everytime. I could simple ask hey Alexa what’s my front door bell battery level? And it would tell me the % of battery left.

Or when it gets down to certain percentage it notifies you thst it’s dropped down to like 20% then 10% then 5% so you know you need to charge it.

I could see this as a big help

  • Add more Alexa Triggers has a request for a “Sensor low battery condition” which makes me think about adding another request for a “Cam/doorbell low battery condition”, and you could add a comment about that if you choose.
  • Add more Alexa Actions has a request for “Query Alexa for device status (eg. on/off)”, and I wonder if something like that could be expanded to include a device’s battery status and not just its operating state.

Since you mentioned Google (presumably Google Home) as well as Alexa in your initial post, I looked to see if there are any similar existing Wishlist topics for Google Home Action & Trigger requests, but I haven’t found any (though I did find Add More IFTTT Triggers and Actions for the IFTTT integration). I don’t know if that reflects a difference in the third-party platform capabilities (i.e., what Alexa and IFTTT open up to third-party developers versus what Google allows), as I’m not a developer.

Rather than checking the stream, I have my battery-powered Wyze devices arranged at the top of the Devices tab so that I can quickly glance at those tiles to see each device’s current percentage. I still have to open the Wyze app and tap Devices, but at least I don’t have to enter each Cam’s stream to see the level. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work for any of the locks, as they don’t show their battery levels on the device tiles, so I still have to navigate to the main screen of each of those to check. That’s something I’d like to see changed in the app.

I made a wish that the current battery percentage to be added into the event clips. Just like the timestamps and watermark.
